I own a Viper GTS and a F355 GTS as well as three Vettes (Z06...). All get driven in the rain. Last weekend, we were on the FCA Virginia Grand Tour with 12 other F-Cars, ran into torrential rains for about 10 miles, and no one had any problem. They all wash up just fine! Z06 is the hardest because of the tires...it is a little tricky sometimes! Buy a Ferrari...you will not regret it! |

Have driven both the Mondial and 512TR in the rain (sometimes fairly heavy) before. No big deal. |

James, Wet roads should always be respected but I never had any hydroplaning problems. Dave |

Drove my GTSi last Saturday to a pick-nick north of Colorado Springs - nice day, warm with slight overcast. Silly me, forgetting that we are still 10-12 weeks away from our allotted 10 nice days per year here in Colorado. About an hour after parking outdoors, unprotected area, the clouds, thunder and lightning came upon us, and then the most violent hail storm in recent memory procedded to devastate every living thing and inanimate object in the area. I-70 to Vail is still washed away..... 308 exposed (with top on) to the entire Biblical level assault - NO damage at all! |

I drove mine in the rain to ENZO party at Cauley Ferrari party last week. I would guess their were 30-40 wet Ferrari's in front of dealer looked wonderful. When you live in Michigan what else can you do but drive in rain or move to a sunshine state. |

My real concern was if there were any driving issues in the rain(viper loves to hydroplane for example), not if they could actually get water on them heh. Like I said, I drive cars like they were ment to be driven. James |

If the missus cars not available and its wet I'd rather take my MV Agusta to work than my F car, had to do just that this week. Simply its a damn site quicker and easier to get the MV back to immaculately clean again that the F car |

You know, the subject of this thread can be taken another way, I'm glad it stayed clean. I drive my 355 in the rain now, at first I avoided it at all costs, but it's not such a big deal anymore. |

They all have windshield wipers and they work. I have been in heavy rain with several models and all handle as good as any car. The targas often leak a little, but I have not had any coupe leak. Dave |

I routinely drive my '74 Dino 246 in the rain. It's been raining here in NY for almost a year straight now, and the car needed some exercise. Seriously, I do drive both the Dino and the 360 Spider rain or shine, no leaks, no electrical problems, but i do go slower in the wet. Because the dino is from the stone age as far as rustproofing, i do wipe it down real well back in the garage.

Rain doesn't deter those of us in the Pacific Northwest from enjoying our Ferraris. I think our event and drive pictures posted on this site were mostly of wet F-cars. |

Rain or shine, if I feel like driving it, I go for a drive. If you really want to drive in the rain, and don't want to get wet, you should probably avoid the soft top cars. The others are pretty tight, to include the GTS targa cars. If they leak, they usually just need the seals replaced. My ancient technology 328 is very stable in the rain, even with Goodyear Eagle GSC F1 tires, which I hear are not considered all that good, yet they are very good at 100 plus in the rain here in Seattle. BTW, stick with cars from 1984 on up, as that was when Ferrari started to take rust proofing seriously. |

My 348 Challenge is on the road, rain or shine... I must agree, they won't melt!! (However, talking from experience, don't park your 348 downhill, overnight, in torrential rain - can be a bit of a problem to get that baby started ;))... right, matt? LOL |

With the exception of some of the supercars, I don't think alot of Ferraris have turbo lag (no turbos ). So it's not like the power band will hit so suddlenly that it bites you in the butt. And besides excessive throttle, most of your wet weather safety will depend upon your tire choices. Since you are not tracking the car, go with a high performance wet/dry tire, like a bridgestone potenza S-03.

I love my Viper. I really do. Like any car, I belive she deserves to be driven as much as possible. My office is about 7 miles away total, with very little sitting, mostly highway blasts to 75 (55 speed zone..oops heh) for that brisk morning reminder that life is good. I try to take it to work when ever possible, but not so much when it's rainy/nasty out. However, I have been cought in summer showers, and i'm not ashamed. I'm interested in Ferrari ownership. The mystique has always interested me. I was thinking of starting with a 348 to get my feet wet in F-car ownership. I plan to keep it on the road, with some semi-daily jaunts to work. Now, do these cars get squirly in the rain? leaky? electical issues crop up with engine bay getting damp? I'm not going to intentionaly try to drive in a monsoon mind you, but summer showers to happen In some circles, even mentioning rain is punishable by 20 verbal lashings and a thumping for the local bylaws LOL Thanks James |
