James, The 308 series is a nice choice. You will enjoy the experience and might not care to venture into other models. Barry |

I'd say go for a QV. These look better IMHO, 16" wheels and the black on the hood. The QV's had rust protectant I think, but some do still have some rust. QV's are later and that usually means better (Ferrari worked out the qwirks). $35K for a carb seems high but a QV should be between $33K to $43K. Good luck, and get an inspection if you do not buy from a authorized dealer. I agree to stay away from 80-82. BTW my 308 might be for sale. |

Rust is less of a concern on 84-85 cars, though still check carefully, as it is not unheard of. I had a carb, loved the sounds, but if drivability is a concern, get FI, it will operate more like a "modern" car and start more easily and not require as much warm-up from cold. No fuel starvation in the corners either. A nice 84-85 QV should be around $34-35k. |

I'd say like what "the Don" recommended a carb or for a few more bucks the QV version. Avoid 1980 - 81 only because they were low on HP (I used to have an '80) IMO. |

Get a Carb. Rust areas are the doors, wheel wells, Muffler cover. expect to pat 25k to 35K |

I know it's been done to death, and i'm sure i'll have the search nazi's yelling at me I've decided that my adventure into F-car ownership will start with the 308 series. Wife seems to agree, as she has a thing for older "classics" (might not have the classic age, but it is a very well known Ferrari). If I enjoy it and the community, then I can venture into other models. Now, the search for a 308 has begun! What is the current avg price for a good shape, documented car? Carb of EFI? Any spots of the cars prone to rust? James |
