i like rb quite a bit. however, i would prefer to see a ms/alonso pairing as soon as possible. alonso is the next ms (due respect to kimi, he is the next mika hakkinen, but talk about dull !). then after ms has decided to hang up the gloves (and buy 50pct of ferrari spa), then bring montoya in.

This is a hard topic, do we really know how good RB really is in a leader role. His place on the team is to get behind MS, and block. Now so far he does not really like the 03 car, I expect this will change. Also Ferrari is always going to plan the race strategy for MS, and not RB so the only way RB is going to be number one is if MS is out of the race or injured. So is RB better than JPM, I would like to see them go head to head in the same car. |

I reckon if Reubins goes Mark Webber should get the drive. In practise he's out performed everyone but Ferrari, and he's done it with rotten luck and an unreliable car. All he needs is one weekend where it all falls into place to show up a few of the big names. |

I don't think Montoya will ever race alongside Schumacher.. That would be a disaster.. He will never accept a team where he is the clear No.2 aka Team Schumacher... Whether or not MS will race beyond 2004 remains to be seen.. He already has more money than god, and has something like 3 kids... He's probably going to want to slow down and spend more time with the family.. As for DC, he's all talk at the beginning of every season how he's going to be world champion someday and never delivers... I been hearing the same lullaby from him since the late 90's... |

I sure hope he does. Fire Barachello or whatever his name is. |

I'm not going to defend DC but he just seems to have the head for a championship. Maybe it's the fact that he has no neck. Montoya is my favorite driver in F1. I would love to see what he could do in that Ferrari! Just look what he brought to the BMW table. Button leaves, JPM shows up and the team starts winning. Even Ralph stepped up to the plate. |

If MS retires, there is one overbearing reason to get Montoya into a Ferrari: The US market. He is well loved in the US and the US is THE biggest market for Ferrari. I bet that is a fact not overseen by Montezemolo. |

DC and Championship should not be in the same sentence. DC is a solid #2 (which is better than a squishy one, IMO). MS should retire and Ferrari should pick up Montoya. |

I think it will be good for Ferrari (and great for Montoya) to have a guy push the cars and the team to see where the edge of the envelope is! |

I would be surprised to see schumi race more than 5 more years. He has made it very clear in interviews that if he is ever "not #1", he will not continue to race. Certainly there is not another team/driver combo right now that can dethrone him, but if Ferrari should lose its edge or if Schumi should lose his, I would expect him to leave. If Rubens is not going to be MS's protege (and as well loved as Rubens is... he's not what I would consider a top driver in F1), then they need to get somebody who will be. My preferred method of MS's retirement would be that the "other" ferrari driver was better than him

DC can talk the talk, but can he walk the walk? I highly doubt it. Kimi is the faster driver, no question. When your car is not as good as the Ferrari, you are going to push it to, and past, the limit. |

I think Montoya has as good of car control as anybody out there. If any of you remember his CART days watching those onboard shots of him correcting the car his reflexes were amazing. I remember Chip Ganassi once said Montoya was the only driver he ever seen that could drive a lose car on a oval. For what it's worth anyway. I'd like to see shumacher stay around awhile yet. though. |

I am an RB fan. I think he is an excellent driver when his luck is holding out. He can be very, very fast. I would really hate to see him go but I would not be unhappy with Montoya. Problem is he can have as much bad luck as RB. |

Nice one about the DC/Playstation, I put a similar disparaging remark about him on an Eddie Irvine (also a "lots of style pity about the content" type of driver) thread recently. I think he talks a big story and can be quick on his day, but doesn't have the stamina for a championship. I think Montoya/Barichello or Montoya/Alonso would both be great combinations for the future. |

It seems like every practice, qualify or race Kimi puts his car in the gravel. He's a loose cannon right now. Give him a few more years. JPM is a much more refined driver. MS is probably going to retire and it'll be Rubens and Montoya for Ferrari. That would please me. I'm wondering when Coultard is going to rise up. I think there's a championship in him somewhere. |

I think as long as Rubens and MS want to be at Ferrari they will be there. This is also marketing remember - MS brings the Germans, Rubi brings the brazilians, Ferrari brings the italians - the three biggest f-1 markets. oh BTW Ross Brawn brings the english and bridgestone the Japanese Jean todt - the french - they have it all covered |

Alonso is the young gun future. Given that MS and Barrichelo are "old" in F1 terms, the smart Ferrari move is to bring in the hottest young gun they can buy to learn under MS wing for a few years before becoming #1. Alonso would fit that role best. |

Dan I agree. I think Montoya would be a great addition to Ferrari. But the problem is someone would have to go, and I know it would not be Michael. I like Rubens a lot though too. I hope he does not leave. |

Just posted on the racing forum, but I thought the main forum might be interested in this rumour - via the BBC website (and the Gazetta newspaper). http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/motorsport/formula_one/2955702.stm I think Montoya would be great in Ferrari F1, personality, agression, like Gilles V. |
