You are changing your name to Carbon? Why on Earth?

Des,

I think even after the name change you will always have your old name as a "AKA" or alias so your old name will still pop up from time to time

Matt, thanks, i totally had no idea this was off-topic. :-)

Tom - i prepare for all contingencies... :-) My license currently has my original name on it; same name as my plane ticket. If they require further proof of identification, fine, i have a passport for just such a contingency. IF (and that's a huge "if") the name change is actually complete inside of the next 5 weeks, then i'll just be Carbon McCoy, but still flying with my old name... i'll bet you a Pazookie (i already owe a few of those anyway) that it's not done before then, though... i was told this takes between 6 to 12 weeks to be completed... We'll see... Good point, though, thanks... Hey, will you be out there...? Are you gonna make it...?

Taek, yes, i'm legally changing my name... Out with the old, in with the new. :-)

Tom, you shouldn't have to. As long as you bring appropriate paperwork verifying your name change. My wife went through a ton of this stuff after she changed her last name. Should be the same if you change your entire name.

By the way DES, is that what you are doing? You're changing your name legally? Not really in touch with this Carbon McCoy thing. Someone posted something about it in the dog name thread.

Cheers

BTW, if you change you name don't you have to change your plane ticket to California and pay a fee????

Ok, so i have the papers notarized and i'm now applying for an index number, which needs to be on the papers before i submit them to the court... There's a fee that goes along with applying for the index # but aside from that and having to publish the name change in a local paper, i can't foresee any other fees... Maybe one or two other, minor court fees, but that will be about it... At present, this doesn't seem to be nearly as difficult as i had anticipated, i just need to be patient... Thanks, everyone, for your advice and helpful links, i appreciate it...

P.S. For your edification, my co-worker's fiance suggested some alternatives to Carbon McCoy, one of which was:
Clutch Kargo.
Needless to say, i passed... :-)
