I do not as of right now, so do not feel left out. I am here to learn as much as I can from a bunch of great owners, so I can do the same for someone else!

Steve, I feel like my name/handle has been somewhat hi-jacked!

My name = ILuv4Res

Anyways, welcome! This is a great place for owners and aspiring owners alike. Great place for info that can help you in your F-car search as well as once you finally do it!

I personally own several Ferrari's, and have parts and bodies and a couple complete engines lying around. Of course, all this is 1/24th scale stuff. Someday I may opt for the 1/1 scale, but for now, I don't feel guilty chopping the top off a car when it only cost me $3.

I felt left out for a while and after about three months of visiting this site I fianaly was convinced that it was time to buy one, I thought it was an over priced toy and not worth having but mine has been very enjoyable and not as much expence as I thought at first.

Steve,
It's all about dreams and setting goals in life.I'm in my mid 30's and ever since my high school days i have fancied 2 cars,a Porsche ( flared fenders & a whale tail) & a Ferrari 328 GTS.The frustrating thing is i have no problem buying one,but dang the maintanence & the priority thing in life is keeping me from buying them.
Anyway i think in 2-4 years i should be able to buy a 355 berlinetta ( spelling ?)until then i'll keep dreaming and keep reading about the car.
Later, Yasir

ModMan, I'm on Lambo chat aswell, may not see me since I don't post much... I do know Allan. Peter, I stay away from drugs, have never done them due to loosing 9 friends in 3 years to them. Math is the only class I have a problem in and it really sucks.

Patrick...You are correct, you can only have so much when your 14. When I was 14, I had goals of being the best sales person on earth! I started when I was 10, in a music store for 4 years..Every day after school! My mentor was Evelyn, a great lady that let me hide in the shadows and listen to her sell a piano. At age 12, I was selling Yamaha grand pianos to people three times my age (and up)! You need to focus on 1) Being a kid (for now) 2) Choose your friends well 3) Stay away from drugs and 4)Do well in school, especially math. Do all of this and you will go very far in life! I am now 44 and still love sales. It has brought me everything I ever wanted. Above all, always give in life. You will get it back tenfold :-)

It usually goes that way... Wazzup Arizonaguy! you must know Allen as he resides in Arizona. 14 years old, good man, starting young, you'll be getting what you want if you keep your goals at it.

Steve,
Until a week ago Thursday I was watching the Ferrari game from the sidelines. Now I have an '86 328 GTS. I traded a gentleman my 1963 Austin-Healey plus some $$$ for his 328. Now I've owned two cars of my dreams. I would have liked to have kept the Healey but garage space and my wallet said no.

I don't have one, but I love looking at them. I've been thinking about buying one for about onemillionyears, but I'm kinda lazy with maintenance and get pissed when things don't work, so me and ownership may not be a good mix.

Arlie, I like your story. On a very cold morning I had a similar problem in a Pinto--Result a siezed engine and a new car.

My intro to Ferraris was at approx. age ten when I saw the Cagney movie, "Never Steal Anything Small".

We could start a thread about who's the oldest here....

I must have missed Magnum that night. It was late 1980 when I was driving my '72 Chevelle home from a friend's house after an evening of listening to Pink Floyd, hanging out, and being unemployed. That evening we proved that a stereo speaker rated for 50 watts ACTUALLY means 50 watts. It couldn't take any more and blew the cone! Anyway, while driving the '72 Chevelle mosquito defogger home, (so named because of smoke belching exhause due to worn valve guides), I became aware of the fact that I was doing nearly 40 MPH with my foot off the accelerator. Apparently the carb linkage had gummed up and wouldn't close the throttle plates completely. So at every stop sign, I would have to brake as hard as I could on the manual brakes to slow down, then shift auto trans to neutral BRIEFLY in order to stop. Naturally the motor was winding out as I shifted to neutral. Then back to drive with a jolt and take off with no application of throttle pedal. An eventful ride home. The next day, a liberal shower of GumOut carb cleaner freed everything up until the next ride. Obviously, no Ferrari for me back then. (or today either.)

David - If the Magnum thing gives your age away then I really feel old. I remember watching the pilot episode the very first night it came on. It was the Ferrari that got me in front of the TV. On the previews it showed the 308 backing up with a close up on the passenger side taillights. I was pretty sure it was a Ferrari so I made sure I was watching that Thurs night way back in 7th grade. Man, that was a long time ago. I do not know why but I remember that whole evening like it was yesterday. I mean everything, like being at the supermarket with my mom and sitting in the livingroom with my dad when it was on. It was Christmas season 1980 and I had the Sears Christmas catalog (no kidding) out that evening too.

Dave don't feel bad about Magnum. That's where I first learned about Ferrari's. I was hooked ever since.

I don't own one yet. I plan on buying one when my movie sells. In the mean time, the closest I could get was a 91 Toyota MR2. I know, but at least it's mid-engined.

Don't worry about it. I don't own a ferrari and I am not ordering one at this time either :-) . This board is however a great place to talk with and learn about ferrari's whether you own one or not the information you get here is beneficial. Don't be ashamed that you don't own one, and remember here you don't just get one persons opinion on a matter you get hundreds. Just look at the "driving around at high rpm's" thread from a while ago. I have always loved ferrari's and have always read everything I came across about them; however, since I joined this chat I have learned more then I ever imagined and even little things that you couldn't even read about. Just remember everyone here has one thing in common they all are car enthusiasts whether f-car or not they all like cars.

Welcome to the board. I've lusted after Ferraris since I was 16, got one when I was 40. Plus, you will meet nice folks, and if you take Willis' suggestion and join a club, you can participate in many Ferrari events, which leads to rides, which might lead to driving, which helps ease the pain on not owning a least a bit.

LMAO, Bruce...!

Steve, don't feel left out; many people here don't own Ferraris - many of the non-owners aren't even on a list, waiting for one or even considering putting their names on lists... Ferrari is so much more than ownership; i never knew that until i came here, but wow - there's so much to learn, so much to know; i'm glad i didn't have a Ferrari last year or the year before - i wouldn't have known any of the stuff i know now... Hang around here, it'll be the best thing you ever did; it's the best thing i ever did... :-)

I was a f-chatter before I was a Ferrari owner. If anyone is attempting to treat me any differently on the site since becoming an owner, they are failing miserably! Clearly ownership of an F-car is not necessarily required proof for being an F-car fanatic! Have fun!

This is to Craig A. You asked me how I felt about women and Ferrari's. I think that it's great. I have never seen a woman driving a Ferrari because of where I live. We don't really see many Ferrari's at all. But to your question I think that more woman should own Ferrari's not only because it takes off the image of Ferrari being a man's car. But it also I like the idea because I think that women should be able to experience the same things as men. I.e driving Ferrari's, riding motorcycles, eating like pigs (sometimes) etc.

Maybe if they had watched more Magimum PI they would not be on Lambo, Porsche, Vette, Supra, and Viper boards and instead be F car enthusiasts! I guess the Magimum PI thing gives my age away.

We're all enthusiasts, that's what we have in common. Well, all except a couple a$$clowns (Thanks Dave!) that waste their time on FerrariChat.com instead of the Lambo, Porsche, Vette, Supra, and Viper boards. Many of us are enthusiasts of all these cars, but those few will do anything to put a Ferrari down. It's their misguided hobby driven by deep rooted feelings of inadequacy and unhappy childhoods.

I've been THINKING about buying a well used 308 Ferrari for 10 years or more. Haven't got around to it yet. Since Ferraris are basically toys that one does not absolutely NEED to buy, there's no hurry. No need going bankrupt for a toy.
