Mondial T with the 348 motor would make a great track car. Don't bother gutting interior, just throw on some wide modern rubber (set of 360 wheels might look intresting, or Speedlines for weight savings, etc.) You won't outrun 355Cs, but you'll have a LOT of fun! Best! Ben.

I agree with Mitch that the oem suspension with max perf. tires is already a great set up. But I will ad that on my t coupe tire pressure plays a big part of the equation. I've tracked and autocrossed the t coupe and when you find the right combo it really does feel like it's on rails. A seat belt rail and 5 point harness is a must as the g's will pull you from the seat. In the Mondial t you can battle with 348's,328's and 308's all day long. |

I think Mondials are too heavy and have too much aerodynamic drag to be a really good track car. A 308 will accelerate faster and have a higher top speed by about 10 mph compared to an equivalent model year Mondial. I know Mondials have been raced, and I've had mine on the track several times and had a blast, but you would have to seriously increase the horsepower to overcome the size and weight. Just my opinion, more experienced Ferrari enthusiasts may have different opinions?

Thanks guys. The seller seems to think his car is still worth approx $20k. Salvage title and 40k miles with no service documentation. I've swept the market on turds. Check my post on Stolen and Returned Buy it or run for the VIN - save a carfax fee. |

Don't bother to gut the interior. Any modern set of max-performance tires will make/allow that car to run around a track like it was on rails. Almost nothing has to be done to the suspension (assuming the bushings and shocks are working well). About the only track things you might contemplate is a switch that (simply) runs the cooling fans continuously. |

I thought about doing that with my 83 euro. Thought i could sell the interior which was in great shape an whatever else i might want to upgrade for racing. The other attraction was i could fit easily with a helmet. Anyhow i traded it for a new car an it recently sold on Ebay for less than they gave me.... |

Say you can buy a Salvage Title Mondial real cheap. Gut the interior. Do a major service and then: what kind of suspension and tire combo would make this an attractive, fun track car? Has it been done? How'd it turn out? |
