Yes Tanks. Like, military atttack vehicles. Franco says hello, and wants to know if you are coming to the New Orleans event in October.

Jim: I met George for lunch during a visit here in New Orleans. A real character. Nice guy. He brought photos of his cars. What killed me was that he claims his Tanks are his favorite, and he regularly drives them. I thought we were crazy in New Orleans! |

Ross That one is J4 the Andretti car that won Sebring. It is now owned by George Stauffer. It differes slightly from the LeMan Mk-IV's. It has rounded sills instead of squared off sills and the tail hindges from the front instead of the rear. The hindge location is due to a pissing match between Shelby and Holman and Moody which Holman won and convinced Ford to force Shelby to hindge his cars from the rear at LeMans 67. Shelby liked the front hindge as if the tail came loose it would be blown down rather than off as mine was at LeMans in 67 resulting in a 40 min pit stop to reatach the tail and make a hindge out of duct tape and Carrol Shelby's belt as only materials availible in the pits were allowed to be used for repair. Still managed to finish 4thOA. The red car is J5 the winner. Best Jim |
