Congrats on your 308 QV purchase. I have the same car in 1983 vintage, if you feel that the power is not up to your need than try this!!

Not cool when wifes 4 door BMW 540I beats my 308

Even if you choose not to modify a timeless elegant design, You will always enjoy driving the most beautiful car ever produced.

John,

Congrats on your QV purchase! They are a wise choice. I've owned my 1983 for about five years now and it's been a blast!

ENJOY THE RIDE!

John...congrats! I also have a Euro 308QV that was built finished in late October 1983 and titled in February 1984. I do need to contact the Owners Site and get the specific date. What is your serial number? This past September at Watkins Glen, I found another Euro 308QV that was THE car in front of mine on the assembly line!...what a neat feeling!

Bill V., just got my airline tickets last night for Lime Rock...this should be one hell of an event. We definitely need to arrange for a FC gathering and picture!

OK, John--weather permitting, I hope to see you around town. You're right, I'll be blasting up I-87. Are you and your friends meeting anywhere special in town Fri or Sat night? I'll be cruising around no doubt.

Bill,
Yes, Intercity is great so far. They actually called yesterday to say it will be here tomorrow afternoon (Friday)- a few days early!! I am beside myself with excitement and fear.

Montreal- I'm driving up on Friday as well if the weekend looks fairly clear. I usually go up thru NH/VT until I-91 and then up to Canada to I-10 west to Montreal. I bet you go up I-87. Hooking up would be great for part of the journey- but it looks like our paths don't meet until Montreal.
Maybe a beer before or after qualifying? I have GA this year so I will be wandering around with friends.

Thanks again everyone.

John--congrats on your purchase! I bought my '85 308 last July had it shipped by Intercity from Fl to NY--great outfit. I plan on driving to Montreal as well , weather permitting. What day are you going? I'm likely driving there on Fri. I'm in the Albany, NY area and you may be driving by on your trip. Let me know if you want to coordinate the drive.
Another great event for you to consider is the Ferrari Challenge at Lime Rock on the weekend of July 10th.

Once again, congrats--you'll love it!

Hey Dr. T,
How's the Tubi working for you? Do you find it resonates too much at lower rpms? Just looking for more opinions before I pull the trigger on one too ; )

Good for you, John. I always said I'd get mine before 30. I made it by 4 months. That was 5 years ago and I have never regretted getting it.

Thanks.

I'm planning on a complete fluid change and then drive to Montreal for the Grad Prix next weekend. I cannot find any place that sells the correct copper washers. I hope Boston Sportscar can sell me a few.

Congrats John! The 308 QV is somewhat rare in that you don't see many up for sale, at least I don't. You'll have the whole summer to enjoy her so go out there and drive it!

I've done it! I bought an 84 308qv Euro. It was actually built October 1983 but titled in the US in April 1984. I emailed from the owners site a few days ago- and part of their reply was:

"We would like to inform you that we cannot provide you with the build sheet of your Ferrari 308 GTS Quattrovalvole, since build sheets are available only for Ferraris produced between 1947 and 1968.

"We can however inform you that your car was produced on October 12th 1983 and the original factory specification external colour was Rosso Corsa with black leather interior (Pelle 8500 Nera)

I didn't realize the possible dates for build sheets. Weird.

Intercity is shipping from Dallas to Boston. It should be here on Monday or Tuesday.

I'm having it dropped off at Boston Sportscar Co. so they can take a glance at the car and I can check out their shop. Hopefully I will be there with camera when the car gets offloaded!

Pictures will follow once I have the car. This has been a dream of mine for twenty years. I always said i would have a 308 before I'm 40 and I'm a few years early.

Thanks to Jim Schad in Dallas who volunteered to look at the car and give an unbiased opinion. I hope someday to return the favor. Also thanks to Wade Nunez of Fortune Motos for all his help in trying to find a car for me. His information was priceless. Thanks again to both of you guys.

It's going to be a long and restless weekend!
