Upper console pics will be up in a week or so. We're not making door handles yet - if anyone has an extra pair (stock), let me know.

I cleaned all the sticky stuff off of my 355 ac control panel, white characters remained.

Chris,
Yes, I am refering to the HVAC controls on the console panel and yes, they are not back lit...they are screened, so you screening the characters on would be ideal.

Frank,
I'm not looking to preserve originality, just functionality. You need the characters to know which knob does what in which position.

Frank, I think the concern with the lettering is functionality, not originality. The knob positions are marked on the stock (gummy) console.

Everything on my central vent in my 348 is sticky. The housing is the worse but the louvres and dials have also become sticky.

I would tend to go back to factory replacements or try the cleaning/repainting approach before paying $250 for only a cover.

Tom, why would you care that any lettering looks original ? After you have replaced the OEM vents with aftermarket vents any originality of the car is already ruined. You can't have your cake and eat it too !

Regarding the 355 consoles - we haven't made these quite yet. Are you referring to the white characters on the climate control console?

Assuming these are not lit from behind, then yes, they will come with stock-looking symbols, screen-printed under the clear-coat.

Thanks for the feedback so far - it's all very helpful.

I'm not sure about overlays. I think I would rather replace sticky vents with factory units, but I'm curious about the 355 console pieces. Does your replacement panels come with the lettering that's on the originals?

I think vents are ok STANDARD. I will have the consoles though in C/F. Any chance of making the door release handles in C/F. Mine are really badly scatched. Need changing.

Hello all, one of our current carbon fiber projects involves the interior vents of the 348 and 355. Apparently, these get sticky like the rest of the interior parts, and we want to offer a solution that matches the rest of our carbon fiber interior upgrades.

Unfortunately, the vent assemblies (one center and two sides) are very complicated little gadgets, and I'm afraid an entirely-carbon fiber version will be cost-prohibitive. So, we've come up with two alternatives to replacing the entire unit.

The first is a carbon fiber housing 'only'. The moving louvered pieces would pop into the carbon housings, so you'd basically have a stock vent with a ring of carbon fiber around it. Cost would probably run about $500 for the set.

The second option is a 3-D trim piece which would cover the exposed (sticky) parts of the vent housings, but again, not the moving louvered pieces. This would be held in place with tabs and/or thin 2-side tape, and would conform to the contours of the vent housings. Cost would probably be closer to $250 for the set.

I'm not the biggest fan of carbon "overlays," but in this case it might be the best option, especially since it's 3-dimensional, curving in toward the dash at the edges of the vent housings, as opposed to a flat stick-on sheet. Thanks for all your input - we want to make the best possible product for all of you who are interested in this type of upgrade.
