Ben, the 288 you saw was probably the one my mechanic worked on in May of this year from the bay area. I stopped in to see my Fcar tech about my 308 and walked into his shop and saw an 85 288 sitting there. I almost lost it...... Anyway my mech. (Hartzell Automotive, Monterey) said it was from the Bay area, and has been working on it for a few years. |

It's $20 per person. No advance/discounts. Doesn't sound too bad?

Faisal! Great to hear from ya, was getting worried! Doing both the 22nd and 29th (The drive starts off north for most of you, and goes furthur north, but is OH so worth it I promise!) would be great. Meeting at FoSF sounds fun, then caravan down. Do we need to arrange for Concours admission, or is it open? Best! Ben. |

Either way sounds good to me. Debating on whether I'd drive up to FoSF...then again, why not. --Dan |

That sounds good to me. I don't know yet if I can make it on the 22nd. But going to the Concours would be fun. Are you guys still up for the 29th., breakfast in Sausalito/Tiburon then a run up 1. Maybe do a little driving. Vincent. |

Yeah, I was thinking we could all meet at Ferrari of San Fran (in Mill Valley, 20 mins north of SF on 101) and drive down to Palo Alto. It would be a nice run. 9-930am sound good? Too early? We would get to the show 10.30 ish. I will call Ferrari of SF to see if we can arrange some kind of parking/hospitality at the show. -f |

I'm definitely game for that, but there was something planned by Vince for the 29th I think. Why not just move it up and meet on the 22nd? Vince was talking about drives up to Napa and stuff. Maybe we can meet there and caravan down to Palo Alto. Cheers |

Hey, you guys know about the Palo Alto Concours d'Elegance coming up, right? It's on June 22nd. Let's meet up then. Is there something planned by the F-car crowd at the event, or should I try and coordinate something? Be happy to. Perhaps a gathering at a staging area, and an en masse arrival to some reserved parking area? Let me know if this sounds appealing. Best, -f |

Dammit Faisal! I put up a thread asking who was going to that event. I got two responses but failed to get in touch with them so ended up picking my nose at home staring at my dogs (I'm sure they didn't appreciate it). Good pics though. Looks like it was a blast! Cheers |

Hey, I called you back! I had tickets to the Jaguar hospitality tent for the vintage races. They were giving massages there too. It was a good time. I spotted a GT40 MK IV there, along with a ton of other waaaaay cool cars. Pics at: http://tvrfreak.com/Albums/Trips/2003%2006%2001%20Sears%20Point%20Vintage%20Racing/page_01.htm Last few pics are on the drive back--funny stuff. Guess you didn't get my message? |

There's a 288 GTO that usually cruises around the Los Gatos/Campbell area on sunny weekends. Along with a black Porsche GT3, blue Z06, blue Esprit V8, and a green 360. I have seen this posse several times now. It's nice to see the F-cars shepherding the others. I usually cruise Skyline Drive on weekends (bike or car, depending on weather), and it dumps me into Los Gatos for a nice refueling and ice-cream stop before taking highway 280 home. It's an invigorating drive. Last night I took Skyline on the way back as well. There were two Vipers at Alice's Restaurant, heading off in my direction. One was the latest model. They both looked great on the road, wide and low. The fog was coming in, so we kept going from twilight to very low-visibility and back. Very surreal, and a nice way to end the day. Saw an Enzo today as well. No plates. It looked like he was gonna scrape the guardrail from how far right he was in the slow lane. There is no justice.

Yeah, I kinda agree, if I was to do a 288GTO replica, which I REALLY want to do, I would have to do it so that at least 5 feet away, you couldn't tell it wasn't 100% the real deal. I just have too much love of the lines to do otherwise. I'd be OK with a different motor (been thinking of a small 12-cyl... or F355's drivetrain) but it'd have to be longitudinal, with gearbox partially visable. Interior too is my fav, 308 switches and 328 gauges, perfect blend! Best! Ben. |

That replica is off. The only person who would be fooled by that is a person who wouldn't know what a 288 GTO is. I'd rather have the 308 style than that. I'm a nut over details, sorry. |

I just remenber thinking <car> "Woah, a 3... *TWO*.... I, no, it can't be! I sure think it is! <car> Oh man, oh man oh man <car> I knew it!!! Oh man, a 288 in the wild, I love it!!!" Taek- Yep, actually I have our office in Healdsburg <lovely>, which is even north of Windsor, so the Bay Area breakfast runs are a drive, but the streets are just so nice and empty at 6am, and in the morning mist, everything takes on this extra magical sort of quality, like the air itself is guilded and hiding something wonderful. Plus, I love chatting with all you guys and drooling over F-cars! Best! Ben. |

Ben, Another friend from the city said he saw a red 288GTO as well, they were in an m5 - apparently the guy gunned it hard, and the noise, I'm told, was glorious. --Dan |

Andrew, Ben is a fellow Bay Area resident. 101N is a major highway in the west coast. Windsor is up North from S.F. Past Sta. Rosa. Now that I think of it... Ben, what the hell were you doing all the way up there?! Cheers |
