Next years FCA annual will be yet another event in the same area at the same time (2004). From what I read into that note FCA is written out of the (present and future) CI picture - so they may stay seperate and therefore become competing events in that same weekend (in theory) and in the same area (also in thoery). My bet is on FCA going back to Quail Lodge after they meet at LS next year. -Ben |

Excellent! Im going to plan to drive the Daytona to Miami for this event. I wonder if they will let me park it out of the general lot? Reckon I should contact someone to find out the details on attending. |

All I understand this as saying is that the regular "Vintage Ferrari Concours" portion of the Concorso Italiano will now become another Cavallino Classic (not that the one in FL is going away!). I expect that this will draw in more of the historically signifigant cars (similar to Pebble Beach), turning the Monterey Penninsula into "Heaven on Earth" for people like me. In fact, with Ferrari being the featured marque for 2004, it might just be a little more than I can take. |

Well it says the new location is Black Horse. I know both shows were pretty much running out of space so I'm guessing this is a pretty big place. I imagine it takes an enormous about of planning and organizing so this may just be 1 event. |

This and Pebble Beach on the same weekend? THE CAVALLINO CLASSIC AT CONCORSO ITALIANO Mercer Island, Washington - June 5, 2003. The Concorso Italiano today announced a new dynamic, multi-year alliance with Cavallino Classic, the renowned Palm Beach, Florida, Ferrari event founded by John and Alicia Barnes, owners of the highly acclaimed Cavallino Magazine. This alliance replaces the Vintage Ferrari Concours that was held at Concorso Italiano over the past 10 years. The new location at Black Horse presented the unique opportunity to establish an internationally recognized Ferrari competition on the West Coast, with the Cavallino Classic as the new organizing host. Together, the Cavallino Classic and Concorso Italiano will form a Super Concours for all Ferrari owners within the framework of the Concorso. This new competition to be known as "The Cavallino Classic at Concorso Italiano" will be open to all Ferraris and will be judged according to the universally accepted IAC/PFA guidelines. Mr. Barnes and his judging team will be given a wide latitude in such matters as positioning all Ferraris on the field, whether judged or displayed, as well as deciding on the number and types of classes, and will provide the high quality, expert judging those who have attended his Palm Beach Cavallino Classic have come to expect. According to Concorso Italiano Chairman, Frank Mandarano, "Our event has grown so much and now includes so many different marques, we felt that John's expertise and international recognition among Ferrari owners would be instrumental in creating a world class Ferrari competition at the Concorso Italiano." According to John Barnes, "I have long believed that rare and historically important Ferraris could benefit from a Cavallino Classic type event during the Monterey Weekend. There are many enthusiasts who have important Ferraris who would enjoy showing them and competing with them, along with the later model Ferraris. There is no better venue for this than at the Concorso Italiano, which has been a natural magnet for all Ferraris for fifteen years. The Cavallino Classic looks forward to being associated with the Concorso Italiano."
