I think the driving position you're referring to in the older Ferraris is called the 'italian ape' - legs splayed, arms outstretched to the front

I love mine! It spoiled me for all the others. I like my 328, the 348 spider that I am looking at currently, and a possible Boxer, but the Dino is closest to my heart. You sit awkwardly, your legs splayed. driving positiion too reclined But fire the baby up, blip the throttle and hear the carbs sucking and gulping air, put it in gear and magic happens. 1st geat has no synchro you you have to be careful how you drive. First car I've actually looked forward to washing and cleaning.
Truly my first love. Thanks to WHart, WSpeer, Solly and many others, I took courage and plunged into ownership. Absolutely the best car decision I've ever made.

246 is named Dino, because Enzo loved this car so much from the designing stage, so he put his son's name on a car, the son who died at young age. Since I read this story long time ago (I was in elementary school then), the name Ferrari & the car stuck with me.
Some people say it is not technically Ferrari, as it doesn't have Ferrari's, that's why it is called Dino, his son's brand name.
I don't know the accuracy to both stories, but I like the first one, and I love the look of 246.

Bill,

Funny....

I've been thinking the same thing. The 246 is one of the most well proportioned cars I have ever seen.

Plus, I hear they are very fun to drive!

Of course I want one of each just for the heck of it but next I'd like a vintage F car
