105K is way to good to be true. The dealership advertising this car also has US model Corvettes.I have asked for help in the European section. I will post my findings.

There's an ad somewhere online (dupont registry?) of that same yellow 360 spider, but the guy says he lives in Singapore and will take 105k for it, pending a large, nonrefundable deposit...........

Thanks for the headsup on the yellow spider, but I was leaning more towards a coupe. I've got sensitive eyes.:-)

I think the intent would be buy to drive it, but at a value like that, you know you can always trade up for more than you paid, or go for the pozzi blue (yowza!).

Also when Europeans advertise they go by date of first registration not by model year like we do. The date of registration on this car is 6/01 so it could be a 2002. I bet if you took this car to an auction you could probably get 195-205 easy especially a yellow car.

Depending on where in Germany, I know some people who might be able to check it out, Norm.

I agree - if it's a US car that's in germany, then there's no conversion work to be done, plus you get a warranty from FNA, and all at the european prices?? You can't beat that!

Dan, I have Emailed the seller for more details and a vin# so I can run a carfax on it. I hope he speaks English. I will post my findings, if it turns out to be what He says it is I think it would be a good investment.

Tyson,

Do you know anything else about that spider? Just curious how a US-spec car ended up there. You don't often hear of one being exported...

Norm,

I can no longer condone the purchase of the car having read that you will rid yourself of the 550. This is, to say the least, extremely disappointing. You were supposed to be my twin! :-)

139,000 Euro = 162,612 USD. The current market value for a 01 360 spider is 205K+. The only thing you would have to pay is import tax and shipping. I just thought I would tell you about it. I am not a dealer or associated with the seller of this car I just like to see what is on the market. Good Luck

As you know there are plenty of European Enthusiasts on this board that could probably take a look at it.

BTW
I've never heard of Blue Le Mans...Could someone post a picture....Also, the blue in the 360 Stradale video thread, anyone know which it is....It didn't look like TDF, but it may have just been the lighting.....That car looked gorgeous....

Norman,
Don't worry about the 3/4 vis.....I don't find it a problem (the blind spot is nowhere near as bad as my Merc SUV)....Reversing ain't easy (side + rear mirrors definately need to be used)
Frankly, I'd be more concerned about being in other peoples blind spots....I've nearly been 'run over' twice by SUV's (both times it was a Range Rover).
Maintenance not too bad....Just be careful of the F1 clutch, tendancy for premature wear (especially '99 '00)

Actually Ben, I'd have to sell the 550 to get the 360. Not enough garage space. I'm looking at a BLUE 360. Yes yes yes. After years of black cars, I am now moving onto a different color scheme. :-)

Just noticed it was blue, but which blue eh? ;)

You weren't taking it up 101 about a day or two ago, were you? (Because I saw a blue 360, with I belive Challenge grilles, going the other direction. Looked really great, the 360 has such incredible road presence with the longer wheelbase.)

Hey Norm, looking at the 360? As you know I don't have one, but just wanted to offer my words of encouragment!

You'll then own BOTH of the world's best cars! :D)

But how will you pick which one to drive to breakfast?

360 manual I've actually never heard of major issues with, all the F1s seem to have the initial bugs that have been fixed now (with software upgrades.) Last thing, high mileage (not that 19k in 3 years is high) cars last longer, and tend to be in better mechanical condition. I'd say it's a win!

But we're all wondering, WHAT COLOR?!?! :-)

Best!
Ben.

I agree, Dr. Shelbee. Driving dynamics aside, the 360 certainly seems to be visually sexier than the 550. The torque of the 550 is incredible, but the 360 is no slouch. The 360 engine specs do not do it justice. I guess it is a combination of lower weight and a willingness to rev high easily. Hmmmm. I'll have to gloss over the chick magnet aspects of this car if I'm going to sell my wife on the idea!! :-)

Totally different animal between those two. I enjoy the 360 as a chick magnet, over short weekend drive and fast at first and cornering.

Maranello is more comfortable in the long drive, quite (mine has no tubi) and very powerful torque with 485 HP V12. I like the ride better than current 575M

Norm,

And here the search for the black/black continues... I don't know how you guys are so patient.

Was it Pozzi? Absolutely stunning color. A very close 2nd choice for me, only the nero/nero on the 550 is too good. But then you know that. :-)

I drove a blue one. Still thinking, Dan. The only thing about the 360 is the rear 3/4 view. Seems like a huge blind spot. Perhaps I'm just not used to it yet. Man, the sound of that engine screaming away behind you is unreal!!!

Norm,
Great news! I'd pull the trigger on the 360 over the "other" secret toy. Jenny doesn't read these boards does she? If so... my bad ; ) Just buy the damn thing. This will give me leverage with Lisa to add a 355 in my garage. Nero right?

What got me started on this 360 thing was a few weeks ago the Porsche dealer let me drive a 2002 911 Turbo with the X50 package (450 hp). That thing was a blast to drive. Hate to say it, but the nimbleness (real word?) made it more fun than my 550. Not that the 550 is boring. The 911 turbo X50 might be faster than the 360, but the overall driving experience of the 360 was definitely better.

Use it to run short errands after a lunch drive. I'm close to some fantastic rural backroads so there's no problem exercising the car properly. Group drives on weekends. There's nothing like a group of Ferraris running together!

Generally, drive it whenever I feel like it. Rain or Shine.

Hey, that 2000 has about the same miles as my 2001. There are 360s out there with over 30K miles.

360s are very reliable. I drive mine multiple times per week including the winter season. Clutch wear is the big issue, but since the one you drove has a new one, I wouldn't worry about it. Just don't abuse the system and you'll be fine. Make sure all the service bulletin items are done, if any are needed for the car(fuel gauge, fuel sender unit, alarm power cable, etc). Check the seals and make sure there are no leaks. Other than that, you don't need to do anything more than the routine services intervals.

Just buy it!

I drove the 6-speed. I drove an F-1 in a 355 last year, and it was quite fun because of the sheer speed and consistency of the shifts, but I just like to shift for myself. I understand the 6-speeds are relatively rare.

Thanks, Taek buddy! :-) I understand Lamborghini's from the 60's are THE most reliable of all italians!!! :-)

Wooohooo Norman!

I'll make sure to tell your wife of how horribly expensive Ferraris are to maintain. :-)

F1s seem to have a history of clutch failure. A buddy of mine has one and has had nothing but problems with it. Once the dealer sorted it (2 months later) it's been fine.

I had the opportunity to drive a 2000 360 coupe with just under 19000 miles. What incredible handling. It certainly is far more nimble than my 550. And the sound behind my head. :-) So, my question to current 360 owners, and those in the know: What can I expect maintenance-wise and reliability-wise if I bought this? It has just had a new clutch put in. (Boy, is my wife going to kill me!!!)
