John, the coolant leak is absolutely normal. Every 308 I have ever seen has gone thru this at least one time. Expect to replace ALL the coolant hoses and then enjoy many trouble free miles.

Thanks folks- I just pulled her out of the garage and there is coolant leaks in the front and rear. Uggg! I took out the spare and fiberglass panel and it looked like one of the coolant hoses below and behind the battery may be the front culprit. I tightened it and moved to the rear. Jacked her up and looked around. There was a small drip of fresh coolant off the coolant hose right after the thermostat- so that hose clamp was a little loose also. How tight should these be? Very little effort with a screwdriver and they moved. Maybe this car had not had a 2.5 hour drive in a while and things loosened up. Put everything back together and warmed her up until the fans came on and looked around. Nothing. test drive was fun. Now letting her cool off in the garage and watching for more. I'm sure it's not this easy.

Here's another photo or two.

Dr. C, you are correct- it is a Euro 84 built in Oct. 83. The exhaust is only two cats and was not from the factory like that. They were put on like in 89.

Thanks again everyone and I guess I'll go check for leaks and change the oil.

2 Cats and no muffler? It looks like an 84 or 85 which would mean 1 cat if any at all and it has a European trim suggesting no cat. You sure?

She arrived to Boston Sportscar Company around 2:00 this past Friday in covered transport (Intercity shipped and was great to work with).
Darin McCay (BSC) and I took her out for a test drive. All was perfect (gearbox, clutch, suspension, brakes, etc). He was having a lot of fun because he says "I'm sorry- I'm really enjoying myself here- did you want to drive?"

So we go back to the shop and put her up on the lift and crawl around under there for a while. I have a few thing to address in the future (potential drive shaft boot leak, shilt seal etc.)- but who cares- I'm ready to drive this thing home.

A friend of mine drove the wife and I down (2 hour drive) to BSC and followed us home part of the way. That was great because we were in 5:00 traffic in Boston for a while. No temperture issues at all!

Anyway- driving her:!!!!
Wow! The exhaust sound is amazing. I've test driven a few 308's recently and none of them sounded like this. It has only two cats and no muffler. Pulling out of the two toll booths on the way home were quite a treat. The attraction factor the car has will take a little getting used to. Somebody has to do it, huh?

It's going to also take some time to get smooth with the gearbox. I know it's possible because I watched Darin do it many times. It seemed much smoother shifting at high RPM's. So, I guess I'll just have to keep the revs up! Any way- here are a couple photos from the day:
