Well here goes! I am the statistical outlyer here with a Challenge car. Too much to list specifics, but I did about 10-12 track events (about 20 days at the track). Costs include mainly parts (rotors, slicks, clutches, pads, fluids etc..) Without crash damage: $8200 With crash damage repair: $40,220 Geez, maybe I should take up another hobby! Regards, Jon P. I am still slightly under $1000. This is from Aug. 2000 to now. I installed 2 XR700s and coils, rebuilt steering rack, bushings, (2)tie rod ends, spark plugs, timing belts, acess. belts, synchrometer, oil, filters, Mobil 1 gear oil, fuseblock and glass fuses, Hadyen Fans, and various other 30K items. Most of the work has been labor intensive, carbs etc. |

$15,000+. just for repairs. The price of a new Saturn or Hyundai or KIA (Killed In Accident)..... Purchase price of car + expenses, if put into a 401K until I reached retirement age, = enough to pay cash for retirement house!! When I still wore a young mans clothes, I could rationalize this kind of expense, but with maturity comes maturity, and it gets tough to justify throwing good money after bad; When I bought my 308 10 months ago, I told myself it would just be for a year to 'get it out of my system', then I would sell it and put the money where it belongs. |

my oil change is $50 plus the oil which is 12 cans of Mobil 1 at 4.95 each. So an oil change is $ 110.00. Jutst because I do not have a lift and to do the oil chnage proper you have to lift the 348. 2 release screws. One is very tricky to get to under some lower body panneling. Had my 30K with preventive waterpump change and new brake pads at $4,500 plus some minor stiff, maybe a total of $ 6,000 last year. |

About $10k this year. This included a brand new dual disc clutch and flywheel, throw out bearing upgrade, new breaks, two custom cats, new spark plugs and an alternator rebuild. The 30K major is next and what ever new little things pop up. Man these cars can suck the money up quick. |

Around $3k. That included two oil changes, transaxle fluid service, brake fluid service, 4 new P-Zeros with 4 wheel alignment, radiator flush and fluid change and a new fog light switch. That's nor too bad for a 1994 348 Spider. |

Spent on it in the last year and a half too much. The amount I spent on actual maintenance though is probably around $1000-2000 (sensors, oil, gasket set, belts, etc for service). Granted I do all my own work though so it would be a lot more if it was going to Ferrari for all this stuff. But it should be very well sorted out when I'm done. |

Erin, Are we measuring calendar year 2001? or 12 months ending April 15, 2002? In my case there is a good difference there. -Ben

Hello everybody. Did your mamma ever tell you that an idle mind was the devils workshop? Well, I had a moment to sit still a few minutes ago and I started thinking about throwing together some statistical figures on operation costs verses age and type of F-cars. So, anybody but me a little curious? All models are welcome to participate. The more folks that participate, the more accurate my equation will be. I will share my findings with everyone. Please do not include cost for fuel, insurance, storage, or mods... only give me your model, year, and cost to maintain the car for one year. Example: I spent $4,500 on my 1983 308QV Euro last year. Thanks. Erin Patrick
