You can have even more caster than 8 deg. Maseratis from the 90's had about 12 deg caster. I have 6 deg on my 328. More caster gives more cambergain when you need it (i.e. when you turn the wheels) and on both wheels in the right direction (posetiv camber on the inside wheel). Run as much caster as possible. High caster is also the reason why you have power steering. The trade off is feel but the caster is more important for lap times.

Probably because of the controversy and variable conditions on all cars and road conditions. This probably caused them more headaches then they needed.

Mine does too which makes me think why would they ditch it in later models...Although you never know with Ferrari. I brought my OM when I went to get an alignment at the local race shop/tire shop.

My owners manual has it under front suspension of the car specs section.

Just for future reference...I'm surprised the OM doesn't have it. Or call the Ferrari dealership they have it I'm sure.

Rob,

Does 8deg of caster for the 355 seem high?

The little I know relates to our race cars, but the difference from 3deg to 4.5deg is huge, I can't imagine 8deg. I wouldn't be able to turn the steering wheel, but if you ever did turn it, it would self center FAST. Maybe the 355's power steering helps? Mark McKenzie

You got that right Rob. Don't argue with HUNTER, They are the top of the line. The best in front end alignment equipment.

At class tonight I got these off the Hunter machine we use...

1997 355
---
Left Front Camber -0.85 (0.17 tolerance)
Right Front Camber -0.85 (0.17 tolerance)
Caster 8.00 (0.17 tolerance)
Total Toe 0.31 (0.06 tolerance)
Rear Camber -2.00 (0.17 tolerance)
Total Toe 0.31 (0.06 tolerance)

For my future reference...

1986-88 328
---
Left Front Camber -0.33 (0.17 tolerance)
Right Front Camber -0.33 (0.17 tolerance)
Caster 4.50 (0.17 tolerance)
Total Toe 0.35 (0.07 tolerance)
Rear Camber -1.67 (0.17 tolerance)
Total Toe 0.49 (0.07 tolerance)

I don't know if these are factory specs, but this is what most techs will use if they're running a Hunter alignment machine.

I'm taking a Steering and Suspension class at the local community college and I was suprised to see Ferrari in the database on the alingment machine. I doubt it has the 355, but I'll check. I would think these would be factory, but maybe not exactly.

Does anyone have access to the factory alignment specs for a (1995) F355?

Does anyone have a different set of alignment specifications for same? Why do you like this spec over the factory spec?
