tom - i have never seen such data - not even anything close, or hinting at it. only ferrari would know this, and i'd be willing to bet they'd have a hard time assembling that information even if their lives depended on it :-) the anecdotal data i have is that the most popular 355 colors were, in order: * rosso corsa (big time) * nero (quite popular) * giallo modena (not uncommon) * everything else doody. |

Would it be possible to get a breakdown by color? I recently bought a Blu Sera `95 355B and I think it's fairly rare.

well, i went and searched but couldn't find it, so sorry 'bout that. good thing i didn't post the don's annoying "search the archives" animated gif ;-) here's the text verbatim out of the FORZA 02/2000 355 Buyer's Guide issue re: Production Numbers: "Ferrari produced 11,273 F355s from 1994 to 1999. The first F355 was s/n 98345, and the last was s/n 117040. Production with the 6-speed gearbox totalled 8,649; model by model, there were 3,938 Berlinettas, 2,048 GTSs, and 2,663 Spyders [sic]. The total number of F355s with the F1 gearbox was 2,624; a model-by-model breakdown is not yet available." (page 46, bottom-left sidebar) I would assume a similar percentage breakout among the three models would be appropriate for the F1 tranny as for the 6-Speed. Maybe it was Spider-weighted a tad, but it's not clear that anyone actually knows for sure (anyone? Buehler?). Apparently, during that production timeframe Ferrari was sending approximately 22.7% of production to North America (850 of 3750 cars) So here are the estimated tables. Worldwide Production:
 North America Production:
hope this is more helpful. doody! |

Ferrari has never been very open and candid with production figures, often seeming to deliberately making them obtuse. For example, I have seen the following "official" numbers for the 355 series: "3,938 F355 Berlinetta, 2,048 F355 GTS, 2,624 F355 Spider, 2,624 355 F1. Total 11,273." Note that they did not break down the body types for the 355 F1! |

these numbers are tough to come by. if you search the archives you should find some educated estimates. some of the published numbers are off, so be careful. either the ferrari site numbers are low or the forza numbers are low - i recall discussions here in the past. doody. |
