Thanks Wayne for that info. Didn't know that the 959 was slated for the Group B as well. I always thought it came out afterwards, but then again I never followed Porsche too closely anyway. One thing I forgot to mention about the F1 Magazine: It also has an article about the guy with the best job in the world: The Ferrari test driver who takes the Enzos out for a final check. DES, get that guy's phone number... |

Group B was where the monsters were. Amazing class. Porsche went on with the 959, but Ferrari was unfortunately grounded but not before they let out a couple of Evo GTOs. Now THAT is a beast. Cheers |

"...a comparison of a 288 GTO vs a Porsche 959 (weird why they pared these two up, but anyway)" Several magazines have set up comparisons between these two cars for a simple reason--they were originally developed to compete against each other. Both cars were intended to compete in the FISA's "Group B" rally class, which required a minimum of 200 road-going examples be built. After two separate fatal crashes in 1986, Group B was cancelled.

Since everybody was buzzing about the R&T Enzo issue I had to go to my fav Borders. Got that along with C&D, but also found the following interesting mags: - F1 Racing, has some good technical details about the new F1 Ferrari - Classicars, has a soso report about a guy who got a TR, skip it - Classic & Sports Car, has an interesting article about a comparison of a 288 GTO vs a Porsche 959 (weird why they pared these two up, but anyway) - F1 Magazine, GET THIS!!! SERIOUSLY! Has a phantastic review of Italy and its motor racing history/passion, mainly Ferrari related. Really, really good and some great photos and stories. The cover shows a F1 Ferrari in front of a church. Classic. Enjoy reading.
