Thanks for the advice guys! Henryk, Glad to hear I'm not the only 'chipped spoiler' TR owner. I thought I was being so careful and then I drove out of a parking lot with a steep curb-to-street arrangement...ouch! I couldn't sleep for a week. Fortunately it was mostly the unseen underside that was scraped.

Paint it black. It WILL getted chipped, on a curb......just chipped mine last weekend. With the black it can be easily repainted.....I have mine done almost yearly, even though I thought I was very careful. It costs only about $100 each time........imagine what it will cost with body color on it. Paint it body color, only if you can raise the clearance. Aren't the 512 spoilers higher off the ground, to begin with? |

BTW, I would recommend having the painter use flex agent so it resists chipping from rocks and such. You may also want to have stonegaurd (3m film) applied after the paint has had sufficient time to cure. |

I think as far as resale, modern purchasers might prefer a body colored spoiler. |

I'm getting my 89 Testarossa's front spoiler repaired and was trying to decide if I should leave it the original black (actually mine is dark gray) or get it painted body color as on the 512TR. I've seen a number older TRs painted body color and it doesn't look bad, but I do like the original look as well. Thoughts? |
