Thanks, everyone... There's really nothing in this world like a Ferrari... LOL, Marcus... It's a nickname i came up with for her, a while ago - been calling her that ever since... It has to do with her personality... |

Great story. I have to ask, why do you call your girlfriend "BIRD"? Where did this name come about-it sounds like an old couple in "La Boca Vista" |

Ok, so this should probably be in the spotters' thread, over in NY, but i couldn't help it... Last night i saw a blue 550... The Bird and i were out (her car) and we pulled up to a light and it was sitting right there, in front of us; my reaction, as always, was pretty casual... "Oh my god, holy sh!t, it's a Ferrari...! Quick follow it, pull up, pull up, i wanna see it...!" The Bird had trouble interpreting my enthusiasm and didn't seem to comply with my first suggestion. "Go...! Go...! What are you doing...? Catch up to it, i wanna see it...!" Finally, she was receptive: "Ok, ok, goddamn, calm down... it's not like i can keep up with it, anyway..." Fortunately, the car didn't take off... The exhaust was intense... i was shaking in my seat... The car pulled into one of the two left-turn lanes and the Bird pulled into the other one, so now we were right next to this awesome car... i had this huge grin on my face, like some 5 year old with a really big ice cream cone... i waved to the guy driving it and he smiled and waved back... 'Cool!' i thought... i was going on and on about the exhaust and yadda yadda and the next time the guy looked over at me, i gave him a thumbs up... He inched his car forward, rolled down the window so we could chat for a second... "Is that a 550 or a 575...?" i eagerly questioned. "It's a 550 Maranello." He replied "SWEET! Is that a Tubi on there...?" i asked... He said something about not having a Tubi but having some sort of air filters... There was background noise and i'm practically def in one ear and i was trying to lean over the Bird to hear him... "So that's a stock exhaust...?!?" i asked in disbelief. "Yeah..." he casually replied... "AWESOME...!" i said... He smiled. The light turned green. :::RUMBLE::: He pulled away and turned left. The Bird followed for a minute, until i asked her to turn around, 'cause i didn't want the guy to think i was stalking him; i just wanted to hear the exhaust a little more... i asked her to pull over so i could get out of the car... i had an almost-claustrophobic feeling and was breathing heavy... How could i be out of breath...? i'm sitting down...! i guess that's just what Ferraris do to people... Don't know if the guy's on here, but if so, thanks... i think i actually know him, but that's another story. The greatest part was that he rolled down the window and accepted me into his Ferrari life for one fleeting moment. Thanks. |
