Rikky, What I meant is that Jordan on points are doing better than Jaguar yet Jordan have a far far far smaller budget (good value for money), and Imho in the past ford have done better giving smaller specialist a cheque than doing it themselves (dont foget that the cosworth V8, GT40, Cobra etc were all originaly designed and built by smaller sepcialist's with ford backing)

As for Jaguar's perfomance i think the car is alot better this year and Webber is doing a fantastic job

Jordan may be ahead of Jaguar but they certainly are not better. While I was rooting for Fisichella to win, and was glad that he was given the victory, they are obviously not on par with Jaguar, who are actually doing quite well (with Webber)

Jordan Ford are currently 5th in the world championship whilst Jaguar are 8th, Think its fairly well known that Jordan have a far smaller budget, Jaguar seem to have fallen away every year since the changed over from Stewart. Just goes to show that Ford only do well when they supply a name plate and a blank cheque

I agree. Jag is owned by Ford and is therefore a factory effort. That said Ford doesn't have as much money to throw around these days.

The GT40s were great cars and did beat Ferrari, but Ferrari beat them with the 330P4, maybe they didn't win Le Mans, but they did win the championship in 1967. Of Course I would rather them have won Le Mans as well, but if given the choice the Championship is more important. Thanks to ProDrive, Ferrari won Le Mans this weekend, at least in the GTS class! This was a good weekend for Ferrari!

The statement the Ford cannot find a good F1 team, isn't the Jaguar team basically a FORD factory team, I mean if they cannot make it work with their own team what do they expect another chassis builder to do. They have more money to throw at the sport than any other if it were a priority.

Jonas,

quote:

Psk, while I agree with you in anything else, it is NOT true that Ford is doing better in Formula 1

Agree not any more as Cosworth seem to not be able to find a descent team anymore ... or their engine is useless.

The best Ford F1 days were with Lotus I guess ... which is a long time ago.

A Ford is a Ford! Nothing else!
You really can't compare the two.

Ton

I agree with Jens that the Ford does not look very appealing.

Psk, while I agree with you in anything else, it is NOT true that Ford is doing better in Formula 1

Ferrari's has one the Constructors Champ. many times more than Ford, if they ever one it. And Ferrari's has one Formula 1 many times also. Just because Ford has a good motor doens't mean they have done much better in F1. Cuz' they havent. To be honest, both their cars and drivers suck. There are several better teams.

But all the other things you said. I agree.

Pete,

Had a bad today? I can really recognise the difference between a race and a street car. Still the Enzo has nicer looks! Thats all I was saying. Cant see anything one eyed about that! After looking at the Ford picture longer I have to add that this car is extraordinary ugly. Looks like an egg on wheels with copied Enzo front!
BTW: I am a Ferrari enthusiast and no Ford fan. In fact the cars they are offering in Germany are ALL mediocre crap by european standards.

Con saluti cordialissimi,
Jens Haller

P.S. The Cosworth engine WAS good! Thats long ago!

Patrick - How about F1? Where is Ferrari? Where are Jordan, Minardi, Jaguar?

I think Bentley might take LeMans this year...Panoz would count as Ford because they are Ford parts bin cars...Ford in WRC won the last rally, but obviously Ferrari does not have a WRC car...Neither does Fiat.

DP is Grand Am not ALMS.

Mustang hasn't done great in GT racing lately. Zero internationally, but Boris Said has done OK with a Stang in Trans Am and not very well in WC (AER is a local Dallas team). Does Panoz count as a Ford? :-)

Ferrari has been winning the FIA GT championship and Grand Am championship lately. Ford hasn't. This may be the year for Le Mans 24 and ALMS too.

I mean that Ford is better on the track than Ferrari....ever since LeMans when the GT40's cleaned out Ferrari has not won since...The Ford pictured here is an ALMS car....Not sure how the 360's are doing in there...Or in TransAm with the 360GT.

Umm, about the only thing this Ford DP has in common with a GT-40 or GT is the blue oval. These are basically spec cars templated by Grand Am. Each manufacturer has little room for play (more than the NASCAR template though). The entire purpose of this class was to be an inexpensive race series for privateers to drive manufacturer specific cars. Less variables to play with, the less expensive. They're all so ugly because of the required safety roll cage dimensions.

Man some of you guys are so one eyed!!! .... The Ford is a real race, with a real purpose and the Ferrari is NOT. The side window treatment of the Enzo is horrible, but it still is an awesome car performance wise, but that does not mean that everything else is second rate. The F308/F355/F550/F360/F40/F50 and many others are far better looking IMO.

Anyway the Enzo is simply a road car ... but I have said all this before ...

While I know this is a Ferrari enthusiasts site it does not imply that we have to stick our head in the sand ... and rubbish everything else.

Pete
ps: This race car is the spirtual successor to the GT40 not the road car GT. Go Ford for having more balls than Ferrari and put your reputation to the test on the race track. And before you Ferrari enthusiasts quote F1, the Cosworth Ford engine IS the most successful engine ... so it could be argued that Ford are MORE successful than Ferrari on the track ...

BTW: I am a huge Italian car fan not especially a Ford fan ...

Greg, I was just talking about the nose treatment. The Enzo designer publicly said it and for obvious function and maybe a little form the DP designers did as well.

Rob, I'm sorry, but there is nothing in that daytona prototype that was inspired by F1.

I doubt the Daytona Proto was directly inspired by the Enzo, but I think both were inspired by F1.

I just received my new AutoWeek today and spotted an article on the new Multimatic Ford Focus race car. The pictures caught my attention... does the front of this thing look a little familiar?
