That sounds like BS. If they have the exact car you would want, why would they not sell you that for MSRP an mark yours up when it comes in. They really have you over a barell. Either you stick it out and putup with the BS, or you tell them to go F*** themselves and by an sl55 and wait till the 360 spider market is flooded and drops to below msrp. |

It takes 3 or4 months or more to get a car once it is ordered to your spec. At that time my dealer askes for a deposit. I had my car delayed when the factory ran out of navy convertible top material. Six speeds are more rare and FOA told me they get one a month more or less. The F1 's are more plentiful. If you never bought a ca from the dealer he is selling to his regulars first but hang in there. I also think if you bought a maser you would get a ferari the next week. |

Why do you think the dealer would want to loose your sale, just to go to the next person on his list who is in line to purchase the car at MSRP? Also, I assume you gave them a deposit with your order in Oct. 2002; if so, you have a contract. Since your friends got their cars from the same dealer, should be a fairly simple court case. The dealer would have to show why you are having to wait so long in comparison to your witnesses( friends). I heard of a similar case where the lawyer simply issued a subpoena(duces tecum) for dealership's order records with the manufacturer and sued the dealer on the doctrine of "specific performance". Seek legal advice, otherwise the frost may be on the pumpkin and you'll still be wondering. |

Sounds like BS and they don't appreciate you or your business. While I do not know too much about the 360 production, I do question why the dealer would say Ferrari is limiting 360 spyder production since (i'm guessing) there still is a high demand for them. Perhaps this might be due to the incoming 360 Stradle? Lastly, if you have purchased three f-cars (which you said) from them and they are still treating you this way, I would walk and take my business to a dealership who would appreciate me. Because you said there was no deposit left with them, I would just run. Good luck, Ryan |

From what I heard this was a car ordered by a customer and then sold back to the dealer |

"recently they were selling a "used" car with the exact same specs and color I had ordered, for $40,000 over list" Interesting in thr UK the Official Dealers are not allowed to sell at more than list price

Hello all, I would like to know if anyone out there is experiencing a similar problem. Went into my local Ferrari dealer in the fall of 2000 to order a 360 spyder, was told I could not leave a deposit but would be put on "the list" and should expect to wait 18 to 24 months. Was finally called in October of 2002 to finalize my order and choose my options a full two year wait. Was told that build time was about 3-4 months and I would have the car by February 2003, then was told the car would not arrive until April because the Christmas holiday delayed production. April came and went and was told I could surprise my wife for Mother's Day. Then I was promised the car for Father's Day, two days ago I was told I would have to wait until September 2003, almost three full years since I made the initial "order". Two friends of mine 0rdered 360 coupes in winter of 2002 and took delivery in winter of 2003, they waited about 12 months. Now I understand that coupes are "easier" to acquire than spyders, but a 24 month difference ? Here is the frustrating part, when attending events at this particular dealership, people "friendly" with the salesmen have already flipped two and three cars, recently they were selling a "used" car with the exact same specs and color I had ordered, for $40,000 over list. There also seems to be a few more "used" cars with less than 1,000 miles on the odo readily available for sale at inflated prices. The excuse I have been hearing is that spyder production has been cut down and I would just have to wait. While for others there is no waiting. What gives ? What's the real deal with production ? What can I expect ? This would be my third F-Car though the first purchased from this dealer, the others were purchased privately. As a group my friends and I have purchased four new cars from this dealer, though I was the only one to order a spyder. Any suggestions ? |
