"Andre, have you ever seen any other driver throw his career away like that? Especially a former world champion?"

No, that is a feat Jacques is leading.

However some other names come to mind:
- Alesi at Ferrari, wasted talent.
- Piquet going to Indycar and crashing in training effectively ending his career. After he hung out for too long in F1.

Andreas, your point is well taken. Give the people what they want to see.

Patrick, don't get me started on the girls in Montreal!

Andre, LOL! Good one!

Leonardo, I agree. My point is, that surprisingly you always see the car with the number, that fits the audience: Schumacher is more popular than Rubens or Eddie, so you only always see his car. Villeneuve is/was more popular than Scheckter (at least in Montreal) and so you only see his car. My point is, that I kinda doubt these cars were really the ones they claim to be and these numbers are put on based on the audience.

Then again the drivers changed chassis back and forth, so it is hard to say whose car it was anyway.

(stepping off my soap box now)

I went to Newtown for lunch and it was not expensive at all, of course this was when it first started. The waitresses are FINE!

Have not eaten at Newtown, but my wife has. Food is very good, but dinner for two will run 200+ Guess the locals feel that's a bit much.

Andreas, the car is from the '80 season, so it makes sense because Gilles would have been the #2 driver after a championship (Scheckter's) year.

Leonardo Soccolich said this about Newtown:
"...I heard its not doing well. Too overpriced."

But he also could have been talking about Jacques himself!

No F1 memorabilia?

So what is the point?! Just another club. How disappointing. I'm not a Jacques fan, but I would always worship a F1 place nevertheless.

Actually Newtown just added a club;it used to be all restaraunt; I went there Friday night and all three floors were JAMMED! Very cool place; no F1 memorabilia etc. Very classy. I bumped into Craig Pollock as he was heading in. (He's shorter than I thought!). It's definitely a great piece of real estate though; right on the corner of Crescent Street.

Leonardo, interesting, that in Montreal the F1 car is the #2 car, not the #1 from Scheckter. Makes sense, but is unusual.

BTW: This is one of my pet peeves: I believe these owners change the numbers and drivers as they please. Point in case: You never see a #2 or #4 car from the current cars with either Eddie or Rubens on display. It is always Schumi.

What's that #8 car next to the Villeneuve car? Looks like a Ferrari race car of some sort?

Lucca was great! Went on Sat night. The turn out was great and the weather was not too bad.

166 MM at the Saratoga Auto Museum; beautifully restored.

Enzo #30 and Gilles' T5 on display in Montreal's Little Italy. If you're in the area I highly recommend Ristorante Lucca for dinner.

Now its back to work on Tuesday.
