You got it right Terry. Have you watched how high Ebay stock has risen in the past year? Amazing. Wish I'd bought that last fall...

I have bought and sold tons of parts and cars on ebay. I bought my 308 and sold my E-type Jag on ebay, both deals went great. I've sold tons of obscure Porsche parts for top dollar, never had issue one with payment or shipping. Ebay ROCKS! Its a worldwide 24/7 swapmeet that includes every conceivable piece or part you could ever dream of.

The swapmeet is dead..... Long live the Swapmeet!

Agreed, the best place to sell stuff is ebay. And probably one of the best places to buy stuff as well. Proper cautions in order, of course.

I have bought tons of stuff off both Ebay and the internet, and so far, anyway, yet to get burned. But I got close a couple times, where further investation before buying saved me...

"In general, swap meets seem to be going downhill"

I think that's because if you have something to sell, ebay puts it in front of the world. I've sold thing I couldn't give away locally and no need to drive to the swap meet and send the day looking at junk.

Just in case anybody was worried: I went to the largest auto show and swap meet in Arkansas this past weekend. It's actually a week long affair with people traveling into the grounds of the Rockefeller Museum of Automobiles on Petit Jean Mountain in Morrilton, Arkansas. Thousands of people from multiple states with trailers and campers loaded with cars and parts. Individuals selling their excess parts and big parts dealers with new parts for sale. I spent two days combing every swap space and scrounging for any deal that I could find.

Not one Ferrari car or part was sighted.

Nobody missed anything by not being there. Just Ford model A stuff, old Chevy stuff, and a few British car hulks scattered around the meet. To add personal insult to injury, there weren't even any vintage Corvette parts to be found. In general, swap meets seem to be going downhill. The vast stockpile of vintage antique car parts continues to dwindle as individual enthusiasts keep everything in their own personal stockpile. I can hazard to hypothesize the swap meet of the future: Massive piles of plastic Camaro spoilers and Toyota air wings. A dismal future awaits us.
