worried?
i looked out among the snow-covered trees.. as if an artist had erased spots of details in a monochromatic painting... one could hear his own heartbeat.. the woods were silent ... the odd passing car.. the quiet tick of the cooling 12 cylinders that had been dramatically -and quickly - silenced was all that could be heard.
tick... tick.. tick
The acrid smell of oil, burnt rubber and brake pads hung in the air and mixed with the freshly lit cigarette.
I looked out amongs the trees... a small doe, spooked by the 10-second drama that had interrupted her berry-feast danced away... over a felled tree.. left around the remaining stump... a hard immediate right around a bush.. then full speed out of sight...
"couldve used traction like that... "I surmised
the woods were once again silent... as if waiting for the next car to tempt fate and the engineering of its tires and brakes. Time seemed to stand still. Thoughts seemed to linger as the shadows stretched along the virginial snow.. now scarred by four large Pirellis.
I gazed along the lines of the car. Sleek, voluptuous lines... lines that took the Italian designer hours - no - weeks to define ...shapes and forms birthed from ethereal realms where beauty is formed... Lines and forms that once had precise definition now had hellish wrinkles and creased folds... Parts that were lovingly placed and assembled now lay broken and separated from the whole. Like some mad-mechanic's jigsaw puzzle.
tick. tick.... tick...
the snow around the rear of the car was melting from the engine heat.. whisps of steam rose and flowed upward towards the darkening sky. It was as if it was the spirit leaving the Machine spiralling back towards the rolling hills of Maranello...
tick tick tick....
worried?
