There is a legit 512tr convertible (yes not just a tr but a 512, no not an M) in Hong Kong, black on black. Owned by a famous race car driver here. He is said to have loved the 512tr so much he made it into a convertible, he also has just been delivered an Enzo, one of 3 in Hong Kong!!

Joop, I think that the Euro TR Targa was not made by Pininfarina, but by a firm in Belgium. I should have more details back home .... I'll try to look it up for you ....

This is another Testarossa Targa, which is said to be done by the Pininfarina Factory itself. As one can see it's from the early series with the higher placed rearview mirror. Further the interior is brown in stead of black. Is is not a US version since it lacks the side-marker lights. Doe anybody know more of this car and perhaps the serial number?

The photo of the Testarossa with yellow wheels shows a conversion by Ultrasmith. The chassunumber is
69005.

Strahman conversions DO NOT FLEX.
They strengthen the frame. I had
the second one he did.tHE GALS AT THAT TIME LOVED IT. Today they probably wouldn't even notice it!

There was a Stramen targa conversion on a 1983 BB512i at TRutland's Swap Meet on Saturday. It looked OK, but I wouldn't butcher my car like that.

here's a testarossa targa with top on... took this pic at a friend's engagement party in Great Neck, LI. one of the attendee's father owns an area Porsche dealership (was not informed as to which one) and they had possession of this car. it was in pretty poor shape up close, frankly.

Targa does not look bad. I hate the painted wheels. Wonder how much steel you have to weld into the frame to keep that car from twisting up?

Actually Andreas, Mira is not the only company that made a TR targa. Pocher made a kit in 1/8 scale yellow TR Targa. It's quite hard to find even on Ebay.

there was a convertible TR in the service bay once and they told me it flexed like crazy. Not sure on a Targa conversion, but it has to lose some rigitity since it wasn't designed that way.

One of my neighbors in florida had a tr convertible which sold on ebay last winter. I have seen it only with the top down and it was ok but not great. On the functional side the headroom is tight for a tall person and that would be vastly improved.

Thanks all for the posts. Very interesting.

I'm wondering how stiff it is or whether it didn't matter much.

Still amazed at the toymaker company picking on such a one off car.

Looks nice but it definitely is an aftermarket, right? Am just wondering if the resale value
will drop (or go up) with the modification.

Came across this model on ebay from one of FChat's sponsors:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3529638748&category=223

Which made me wonder, whether such a car was ever 'made'. Obviously not by the factory. I have seen 512 TR Spider(s), but never a Targa. Has anybody seen such a car in real life? I'm amazed a company made this into an official model.
