Okay, I'll dissent. While I love the 550, and classic 12's, all the same. You say you love open top motoring, but couldn't be without a Ferrari, right? Only possible solution: get the 360 spyder. Now, let me rationalize it for you: you've already got a front engine 12, getting the classic 12 -while fulfilling another fantasy- will be more of the same; coupe, v12, etc. The spider will relate another spectrum of the driving experience, and as we know the spyders have held their value, so, should you decide the car's not for you, you can always trade back for yet another sorted 550 with some cash on top. Not saying it's the only answer, but it would be my move. Regards. |

LWR: IMO 550s are more car in every respect than the 360. I would go for another V12 also. Best of luck with the new car. |

I wouldn't trade to the 360 IMHO you have a convert already with the mb and that 550 is an amazing car. 360's are great cars but I wouldn't get rid of a 550 for it, if you could spend 60k on another ferrari anyway. But, have you thought about a 328gts that way you have the open top experience and still keep the 550. Erik |

I can hear it now... "Not another what shall I buy thread!" ... Given that I already understand all the 'only buy what you like' and 'don't worry about depreciation' reponses... I'm really interested in what YOU would do in the following situation. I've been thinking about selling my 550 for about a year, but I've finally come to the conclusion I'm not going to. I couldn't be withou a Ferrari. I love my 550, but I also really like open-top convertible cars. I have an MB SL320 that I use as daily driver, but whenever I see a 360 spider, I think I want one. So my situation is this... I have 40k ($60k US) ... do I trade the 550 on a 360 Spider... or do indulge my other fantasy which is to build a vertical in 12cyl Ferraris... 40k would by me a nice 365GTC4 like the one below.
While it's not quite a Daytona it's still a beautiful car. What would you do? 360 Spider or keep the 550 and buy a classic V12? Obviously I would buy what ever would make me happy... and I'm not worried about depreciation... hey I bought a 550 two years ago... I know all about depreciation!
