You can't tell the difference in the two settings ??? You're obviously not trying hard enough. My 355 flys in and out of the roundabouts in sports mode and is much more planted than the comfort mode. Are all you blokes from America - oops forgot all the roads are straight out there !! LOL |

Err, no traction control on F355. As Doody says: in manual 355: light on is comfort mode. light off is sport mode. in F1 355: light on is sport mode. light off is comfort mode. bear in mind that after a certain speed, the car ignores these settings and reverts to the sport setting.(apparently) The light on is a caution that the car is softer handling than usual. Read the manual, its all in there. My neighbour's car is an F1 355, and I can confirm they are indeed inversed compared to the manual cars. |

For a 6 Speed 355: If the light is ON the car is in COMFORT mode. If the light is OFF the car is in SPORT mode, which is "standard". The F1 tranny cars are beyond my purview. Doody. |

As a manual 355 owner, this thread is not much help due to the contradictory posts. Bottom line- when one starts the car and the suspension light is NOT on, does that mean you're in sport or not? AS some would suggest when you switch the light on it actually means you're switching to softer suspension. Yes? |

The car does not have an automatic default to sport mode when it is started. It starts in comfort mode and the light is not on. You have to manually select Sport and the light comes on to let you know when you are in it. It is the traction control switch that lights up to show when you have turned it off. Traction control does have an automatic default that keeps it turned on unless you manually turn it off. It it begins to flash while driving, it means it is doing as it should and adjusting your traction for you. |

I believe it goes something like this: On cars with the 6-speed the suspension is in sport mode when the light is off. The car will vary between soft/stiff suspension settings as the computer sees fit. Toggling the suspension switch (the one with the picture of the shock absorber) illuminates the light and does not allow the suspension to advance into sport mode. Now on cars with the F1 tranny, the same switch, now labeled "sport", stiffens the suspension, and also changes the shift characteristics of the F1 tranny over 7000 RPM. This switch also locks out the "auto upshift" feature of the F1 when hitting redline. Going beyond redline in "sport" will result in the rev limiter instead. Hope that helps, Pino |

I'm confused. In mine when the light is off the transmission downshifts automatically when coming to a stop. If I select sport mode, the light is on, and the transmission will not shift itself. There is a noticeable difference in suspension settings, when light is off the car is much softer. Mine is a 99 355 F1. Could this be different in 99? |

With all dure respect to Mr Doody: "yes, the light indicates you have turned sport mode off. it's inverted." Its done in the true Italiano fassion: The light is on to remind you that the car will not react as fast, and that you should take caution. |

jeff, my sentiments EXACTLY!!! I remember a while back there was a thread i posted about if the light is on does it mean it's on sport or not and i think we were 50/50 split on light on meaning sport and on light off meaning sport. |

The shock absorber are adjusted by electric motors. These motors manipulate the valving in the shocks. There are two programs, comfort and sport. In both programs, the comfort setting has minimum shock above residential speeds and below highway speeds. In sport mode more shock is gradually added with increaseing speed. The stiffest setting achieved above 80 MPH. |

What changes take place when you put the 355 in sport mode. Is this just purely suspension changes or does it effect other driving aspects. |
