As an owner of an 02 360 Spyder I would like to quote one review of the 360 that I read prior to purchasing.

Stereo System: Who Cares!!

.. and after driving one for a year now, I agree that the engine sounds much better than the piece of crap stereo that they put in it.

Part of the confusion stems from the fact that a lot of the controls don't operate instantly. There is an annoying delay and you're never quite sure if you pushed the right button. So you push the button again or another button, thereby compounding the confusion!

To make matters worse, the display is hard to read during the day - so it's hard to get visual confirmation as well.

btw, does anyone know how to adjust the display brightness and or contrast?

Kennedy, I agree - this is just about the worst user interface I've had to live with.

Like Porsche, Ferrari uses the same Becker model, just with their name on it. Buttons are smaill hard to use, and you must set tone controls for each function CD/Radio/Cassette/ Top Buttons set mode, tone, mute, etc. Pretty easy to figure out. To set station, just hold down desired button. Hope that helps

Paul, I doubt many are laughing.

As a software architect, the 360 radio is a classic example of "highly functional" but "poor usability" due to the first step being consistently "non-intuitive". As others have said, once you figure out how to program the first button, programming the rest will be easy. Until the next time... its so non-intuitive how to start, you probably won't remember. Similarly, it'll take a while just to figure out how to tune it. And the display will actually unsettle you during the tuning, but its real easy... just wholly non-intuitive. So much so, the next time you need to do it, you'll probably have to try a couple things before you remember.

On a scale of 1-10, where 10 is best, the interface gets a solid 3. To get lower it would have to be wholly disfunctional (which its not).

Now the interface... that's laughable.

Install a Tubi and turn the radio off.

Yep, RTFM is the only option here. Its certainly the least intuitive radio in any car I've owned. But once you understand it its pretty easy - mostly a factor of the fact that no buttons have any labels. As long as you know where "off" is you should be set.

He bought it from Lake Forest in Chicago area and we live about 3+ hrs. from there, so I'm guessing they just had it delivered to him.

I agree with Dave. Let them read the manual and good luck. I am not a "radio" person and found it a pain in the ass to program. It also takes patience. Once he figures out how to program the first channel, the next 9 will be easy. Others are probably laughing at this post but I found it confusing. Couln't the dealer help him when he took delivery?

My only suggestion to him would be to read the owner's manual. There is a separate one for the radio, I believe.

I just met a nice guy last night that took delivery one week ago on an '03 red F1 Spider (challenge grill, scuderia badges, red piping on black interior...beautiful!). Anyway, he needs some help figuring out how to operate the radio. Any tips from you 360 owners that I can pass on to him would be appreciated. Thanks, Jerry.
