Vincent..He is in WI. With shipping as cheap as it is Vs the price of the car, he can buy anywhere. I will be dropping by Ferrari of SF in Mill Valley next week to see what Brad may have. The 348 may be a great choice. What are the best years for these? |

Peter, Is he looking at performance comparisons in that range, or does he want something that really talks back to him when he drives it? Or both? A 348 sounds like it would fit the bill. Great performance (not two years old, but fits the range), great looks, great sound, and a Ferrari! Vincent. |

Best way to sell him on the marque: get him the opportunity to see and drive some of the cars. Then he will make up his own mind without any salesmanship. Both models you mentioned are fine, as long as the 348 is a late US car, which means a spider, and if a 355, the 95 had some valve guide issues (but some prefer the car cause its a little more powerful than later 355's). Given the drop in 355 prices, and fairly steady 348 spider prices (i haven't checked lately), he could spend the Xtra money wisely on a 355. But a later 355 spider could still exceed his budget by a few units. |

Just putting this on top. I was suprised I got only one reply! I would certainly like to get about 15-20 posts and pass it to him. Thank you, Pete |

Peter, www.4Ferrari.com shameless selfpromotion yellow 355B, nicer than a Porsche, better sound than a Porsche, handmade instead of mass produced.

Visiting a buddy in Wisconsin this week, he told me that he is starting to shop for a sports car. His mindset was maybe a Porsche Boxter or a higher-end BMW. I mentioned a Ferrari to him and got his interest. We looked at a few of the ads on FChat and he really liked the 348's and 355's. His price range would be about $60-$80K. Though he feels he wants a car that is no older than about two years, I did a good job in explaining to him that if he got a Ferrari, 4-6 years old is like buying a two year old Porsche. Just looking for replies that I could pass to him in a week or two as to direction of the best car to look for. This would include best value and lower sustaining maintenance issues, i.e.: staying away from 'problem years' on certain models....All replies appreciated! |
