Our fallen friends even made headline news in Europe:

http://www.blick.ch/PB2G/PB2GA/pb2ga.htm?snr=53700

I spare you the translation, nothing we don't know yet. The only good thing about it is, that their accident raised some awareness of the dangers of this track. Maybe somebody else gets spared this way. Especially on this weekend.

Now that at least a few days have past, I'd like to post these pictures of Amar's car:

Last year some of us Fchat folks put together a calendar for 2003 with pictures of our cars. Amar provided two. This started us chatting and we decided to meet one day.

I hope nobody takes offense by these shots. For me it is a memory of happier times. And believe me, that calendar will stay in my collection forever.

Con saluti cordialissimi.

My deepest condolences to their friends and familes.

Thank you for the kind words...

Jim: I just skimmed over the other thread regarding this Forza ad.. i had not read this so, to be honest i'm in a bit of a quandry as to what to do... there are alot of emotional toes i could step on here... if I read the thread correctly, ANOTHER designer is already doing something... the last thing anybody wants to do is to have 2 people vying over THIS account...

So...

I'll do this:
The file IS digital... if it is wanted it is available - the horse can be erased for legal issues. The person in charge of this can contact me via my email in my profile. It will be free of charge of course...

Again.. i want to do the right thing here.. and I hope that came across OK...

From your extended family in California.

We weep for the loss of 2 brothers who shared
our common passion.
We will value the words theyve left with the F-chat community.
We bid our condolence to Amar and Jens families.
Their passing away brings forth as a reminder how
at times we may take life for granted.

Thank you JENS and AMAR for sharing yourselves to us.
We will remember you through our prayers.
May God Bless your families.

In Sorrow,

I wanted to put something together visually to express my feeling on this heartwrenching event...

There are a few threads on this... i havent had time to real all the posts but the one titled "In Memorium" seemed the most appropriate... i hope you all agree...

I did not know them personally... but we ALL share the same extraordinary passion for Ferrari.. something the general public can't or won't understand... so we are ALL brothers in Rossa Corsa arms...

I hope this expresses my feelings in ways my typing can't...

For Jens & Amar:

Ton, it did.
I called the restaurant first and they said the table was cancelled. I thought, meybe they decided otherwise.
I called the Hotel next adn they said everybody checked out. That is when I started feeling light.
I finally left a message on Jens's answering machine that we heared of an accident and were all concerned and he should please call me.

Of everything then I did not think it could have been him. It is just the strangest thought. My message must have sounded awefull to the family member when they played that back. Makes me sick to think about it.

btw I heard that you contacted the hotel and the restaurant on friday. Is that true? It must have ripped your heart out to hear about the cancellations.

Paul, I don't know much about this track, but the following was posted by Mark in the European section:

"I am sorry to report that there was a bad smash this afternoon, we were chatting at about 14.45 in the car park when a newish looking 360? modena with UK plates left the gates, we were talking about the fact that they don't handle, are better in the car park etc etc.. at about 15.00 a closure was declared, Caz was with us and her mobile started to ring, it was Jocke, he arrived 20 - 30 seconds after it happened, he came over flugplatz and saw the smoke from the burning 360. It had spun out at S-Kruez landed on it's roof, and caught on fire. They have just said on local radio that the driver was English and the passenger was a German. They both died.

It seems to confirm it was a UK Modena 360"

Hope this helps.

Paul, the thread is probably getting too long to read.

Basically, the incident happend at Nurburgring on Friday. Jens was riding in Amar's 360 when it flipped over and caught fire. Both couldn't get out in time. As far as I know, nobody saw what happened.

I am also in shock and disbelief and at the same time trying to put together the pieces of the puzzle as far as the actual incident is concerned. I look forward to getting on FChat early each morning before starting work and to find this.......! This is VERY sad. As for many others, we spoke to both Amar and Jens through FChat many times. And like many, we never met but we do feel like we lost 2 friends. I ditto everyone else's sentiments.
Salute, Jens and Amar.
**Can someone tell me more about the accident? were they driving together? This happened at Nurburgring? The next F1 race, on June 29th will be held there. If anyone is going to be there, can FChat send over a larger BANNER with their names on it to give them tribute during the event? More than likely they would have been watching it anyway. In their own way, they WILL be there anyway.

Through our community I feel as though I've spoken face-to-face with all of you even though you live far away...

I am very upset over the thought of our two friends having a fun day, living life as we all wish we can each day...only to lose this gift we are given.

Jens and I just discussed driving techniques last week, I could feel his excitement in anticipation of the coming day, :-(

My deepest sympathies to the families and friends, and all who grieve this tragic loss.

Both Jens (passenger) and Amar (driver) were killed when Amar's 360 flipped and caught fire.

Im in total shock and disbelief - a very sad day for us all

The response by our members is a testament that this is more than a chat site and we are a family drawn together by a common passion.

Jim said Makes me step back and re-evaluate some things in my own life. How true my friend, good advice for all of us.

Perhaps as a result of this tragic event we can all benefit by understanding and appreciating that what we have is today this daythis minuteand nothing more.

Drive your Ferrari.
Tell someone you Love them.
Leave a mark of Kindness.

A message to us all:
Look to this day,
For it is life,
The very life of life.

In its brief course, lie all
The realities and verities of existence,
The bliss of growth,
The splendor of action,
The glory of power

For yesterday is but a dream,
And tomorrow is only a vision,
But today, well lived,
Makes every yesterday a dream of happiness
And every tomorrow a vision of hope.

Look well, therefore, to this day

Hi all

my deepest condolence for both and their families.

What a sad occasion to be back on FerrariChat after a while.

I don't want to criticize something or anybody BUT everybody should know that the Nurburgring is the most difficult and most dangerous circuit in the world.

Nearly EVERY day people are being killed driving their bikes or cars around the RING. The Media is asked not to publish the real number of casualties.

NOOOO - I don't want to say: let's go back to everyday life BUT you should thing about WHY it happenes so often.

Pedal to the metal right after the first lap, fully overestimation, mostly wearing no crash helmets (also in cars), sharing the passenger-seat with somebody else, never driven a Ferrari under circumstances like that, ........

May the dead of Amar Inam and Jens Haller be a warning for all of us !!

just found this picture at

We had just arrived at the ring and Amar's car was drawing quite a crowd. Apparantly this guy made a quick picture too. I rode the whole trip to the ring in the car with Amar, so this shot feels a bit odd to look at for me... I can still see myself and Amar stepping out of the car minutes before this shot was taken.

Hi guys.
Woke up this morning hoping it was all a bad dream, or more like a nightmare really. Unfortunately it wasn't.

I mourn over their loss...

I'm staring at your picture for about 20 minutes now Bart... for those who don't know.. This is Amar with Jens in the passenger seat just leaving the parking lot for the lap which would eventually lead to their very deaths.

I keep telling myself "Why" and "What if..", but it won't make any difference now.

I will cherish the good memories I have of them both.

Still can't beleive it their gone, after all the fun we had the day before. We (Jens, Roel and me) went karting, and strolled along the Rhein.
They both had driven 2 laps on the Nordschleife that day and I've riden along with both Amar and Jens.
Me or Roel were supposed to ride along with Amar but Jens cut in :-(

I left my house in the afternoon before we received the final news, hoping to hear the best when I came back. No such luck.

I had some correspondence through e-mail with Amar about the Stradale. He was a true enthusiast with a passion, and a gentleman, as was Jens. This is truly tragic and saddening. It hits too close to home.

I don't know what to say.

Oh my god. I simply cannot belive it. I am stunned. I remenber them so joyous, so excited about the event. I never met either of them, yet I feel like I've lost a member of the family. A tear rolls down my cheek as I write this.

They died as they lived, gentlemen, enthusiests, driving Ferraris. No one knows what the future may bring, and tommorow is by no means a guarentee. Surely a tirbuite of some sort is in order, it's the least we could do.

Con saluti cordialissimi Jens and Amar.

What a terrible fate, hope they rest in peace. It really shows how life can end unexpectedly and that's what taught me to try to live life the fullest.

Sincere condolences to their families and friends. I remember them both replying to threads I posted for help, etc. Never met them, but they were FChat brothers that replied with intelligence and class. May they rest in peace.

This is very sad news. They will be missed and my deepest sympathy goes out to their love ones.

I also know from experience just how hard it is to watch something like this happen. My sympathy is also with everyone who was there....

This is terrible!!! Although I never met Amar and Jens in person. It felt like 2 close friends just passed. Very hard to accept.

Jens and I are about the same age and we exchanged some emails when I was looking for my 512TR lights. Very cheery and always willing to go 10 miles out of his way to help.

May both rest in peace...

Rob, thanks for checking in. It's eerie how much of an impact something like this can have. I hope I wasn't out of line, but I contacted Speed Channel and explained the circumstances, along with the expanse of this community, and asked if they could make mention of Amar and Jens along with our condolences.

I don't know what to say yet, I just read this as I'm out of town and was just doing a quick check up. As any community would pull together, I agree we should do something. If someone can find a memorial address or charity then I can help put a page together. I'm in denial right now. This just couldn't of happened.

This is a terrible loss, not only to their family and friends, but also to Ferrarichat as well.

It's easy to forget what an amazing group of people we have here, especially one with a common interest and a great appreciation for the Prancing Horse. Sometimes these things get lost in the bickering over license plate holders, floormats, and Supras.

I know everyone has expressed their condolences about Amar's and Jens' passing, but I'd like to thank Rob for giving us 'chatters the privilege to have known these gentlemen in the first place. It doesn't make the loss any easier to take, but it does make us realize what a great community that we share in cyberspace.

Con saluti cordialissimi Jens and Amar...

This is so horrible!! I did not know them but certainly remember many of their posts. I looked
at Jens profile regularly just to see his 348!
It's like losing a close friend.
If I had a choice, it would be to go doing what I love.

I'm truly very sad at their un-timely passing.
My deepest condolences to their friends and familes.
