When the weather cooperates, this is a great event! Not only for the races , but for the number of Ferraris in the parking lot.

Greg--that's a great idea about Chatters meeting somewhere particular. If I recall correctly, there is a memorabilia shop near the track and food vendors. Perhaps in front of one or the other at a particular time?

I'll be praying for good weather, as will everyone else I believe. The weather has been equally awful in DC. Jim, my M is actually the odd looking one that has been described as "a sausage with one end inflated." It's an M Coupe, which is a little bit like a Z3 with a roof and considerably more chassis rigidity. They are relatively rare (about 3,000 produced) and a lot of fun for a fairly reliable car.

WM, the event is Friday (11th) and Saturday (12th)...hope to see everyone there. We'll have to do a "every FC member meet here @ noon on Saturday" type of deal.

Jonathan,

Before driving the 6 hours, keep a keen eye on the weather. We've had some bad luck with this event over the last few years - its rained twice and they moved the event to Watkins Glen last year. A lot of us up here are pretty tired of rainy Saturdays and Sundays and would love to see different weather by July.

If weather is not an issue, you should see a great cross-section of cars at this event. I've seen a couple of 250GT SWBs at this event, as well as three or four 512BBLMs, a Pontoon- fendered Testarossa, silver 250 GTO (Tony's) and lots more. Robert Dusek has brought a 275P in the past (I might have that model number wrong), and there are lots of other race cars in attendance. This is usually a great event at a great spectator track. If you add all the street cars that will be going, plus the current and past Challenge Cars, the event will be well worth your drive up and back. Keep your fingers crossed that we have good weather, and welcome on-board Ferrari-Chat.

It is a great event and there will be a lot of great cars including your M coupe. As we get closer we'll set a meeting place. Do you have an M3 or an M5?

Jim - if I can get you a copy of that R&T on Le Mans, I think I might ask Greg to get in line behind me for a ride! Seriously though, it sounds like a wonderful event. I was there for the Rennsport reunion a few years back, which was quite impressive and am looking foward to this far more. (Although I hope my poor little M Coupe doesn't feel too intimidated.) I look forward to meeting as many folks from the board as possible and introducing myself in person. Cheers, Jon

I might be interested in going. Dunno if i'll have a free seat. Depends on what my wife wants to do that weekend. But, i doubt i'll be there for the weekend, just for the day. Which day is which?

Greg
I won't be driving the MK-IV on the track. The problem with giving rides in that car is that the passenger seat because of the fuse and electrical panel makes it very hard to get into if your over 5'7". Pray for sun and stop by and we'll see what we can do.

James, I'll be coming from Tallahassee...It'll be good to see some of the FC people again. Usually when Peter Sachs is there, his friend Tony Wang attends also. Between the two of them, they must have several $M in Ferrari's.

This is also the 10th aniversary of the Ferrari Challenge...so I'm guessing there will be a rather large quantity of Ferrari's at this event.

James, any chance for a ride in a GT40? I've seen several of them, but have never been privileged enough to sit nor ride in one.

James, thanks for your response - I've been enjoying your posts for the last month or so and would thrilled to see your GT 40. If you are interested, a partner at my firm here in DC has an original copy of the Road & Track reviewing the Le Mans race your car competed in and I bet he'd be willing to give it up. Let's just hope for good weather!

Hi everyone - this is my first post and I'd like to briefly introduce myself. I'm a dedicated (actually obsessed) tifoso from the DC area, Old Town Alexandria, specifically. Sadly I have yet to acquire my first Ferrari but am currently the owner of an Estoril blue BMW M Coupe, which I adore nonetheless. My question relates to the upcoming 360 Challenge/Historic event at Lime Rock, Ferrari Days. I'm considering driving up for the event (6 hours), but wanted to see if anyone knew for certain whether there will be a large turnout of significant cars - i.e., GTO's, SWB's, 250 TR's. I know that area of CT is a cradle of important Ferrari's (Peter Sach's collection, for instance)but was curious if anyone had specific intelligence on cars scheduled to attend. Thanks for any information and great, great board!
