I have a Koenig twin turbo, and I am in the process of upgrading. Currently, new throttle body is in, custom intake and charge pipes are being made now. To make the car fully tunable, we will be installing new engine management, fuel rails, new injectors next. Will keep you posted. Taking a lot longer than I thought it would.

Taso

P.S. Your question, cars that are mass produced , you could buy "kits" for. Testarossa, everything has to be custom made pretty much, which means more $$.

Adrian,

I don't know anything about the car that is pictured. I believe it was taken by someone on this site - perhaps their client/friend, something.

If you're interested in the Koenig-Specials kit, check it out here: http://www.koenig-specials.com/ferrari/ferrari-testarossa84-92.html

That car would send Mustang owners running home to their mommy looking for a shoulder to cry on.

SWEET!

1 of my mechanics says that a titanium transmission main shaft can cure the failure problems. I would have the trans & diff :-) rebuilt at the same time if you are serious about this.

The Koenig-Specials kit has 700 HP, but looks like the retail price is much higher. Not sure what this is in US currency:

KOENIG Twin-Turbo 514 kW / 700 HP /690 NM
complete engine conversion with 2 turbo-chargers (KKK), turbo-manifolds reduced compression (changed pistons), additional oil- and gearbox-cooling, special head gaskets, 2 intercoolers, changed exhaust-system, modified motronic, special air flow-meters, including dissassembling and assembling of the engine.

Are they giving you an intercooler too?

Is it a track car or a street car?

If it's a street car, have you considered a supercharger instead?

$25k is a lot of money. But its a lot of work to make the conversion. Is it a twin turbo were talking about?

A $5k turbo kit for a high production car probably buys you a turbo a set of steel headers, exhaust pipe and muffler, a piggy back unit to over-ride the factor ECU and a new fuel pressure regulator set of overdrive the stock injector. The stuff comes in a box and will take you a couple weeks to get it on the car and working and I doubt it will ever really work the way it should.

When you go to norwood, youll get a pair of top shelf turbo with ceramic inpeller so they spool out much quicker the common unit and are more durable. Youll get a set of custom made stainless headers and exhaust. Stainless of alum air inlet plumbing. Youll need to convert the CIS injection to electronic, so youre intake will be reworked and fitted with properly sized electronic injectors, new fuel rails, fuel pump, regulator and of course a new ECU. It will all be installed, tuned and fast.

There are a few people who post here that have had work done there, Jeff Edison has a twin turbo/intercooler 348 they did and it looks like a great job. Theres another guy having a 308QV turbod and nosd now.

I have a 1986 Testarossa. I love the car and recently have been contemplating turbocharging the car. I have contacted Norwood in Dallas and they have just what I am looking for, 450 HP on the rear wheels without internal engine mods. My car is basically stock with 10,000 miles. The downside is the $25,000 price tag. I have been researching aftermarket Turbo kits for other more common cars and typically the kit price is less than $5,000. Looking for people out there iwth experience regarding adding a turbo to a ferrari or a car that did not come equipped from the factory with a turbo. Any and all feedback appreciated.
Regards,
John
