one of the local dudes here, tom armstrong, is setting some a 'councours d'elegance' which is
set for sept 13 2003 at carillon point. I'm not sur eif the name/number on the notice is his home address, so i wont post it here, but seattle childrens' hospoital usually gets involved in these racing thingies and did some press release I guess. It is dated may 13, and says to contact jeff clark, greater kirkland chamber of commerce, 425 823 2244 if anyone is interested.

"this inaugural year will feature american classics, foreign classics, woodies, ferraris, mercedes-benz, and brass antiques. A team of experienced and competent concours judges has been selected. 15 special trophies will be awarded recognizing the winners in various categories"

fyi, tom armstrong also runs some piece of the upcoming IROE ("internation race of executives") whereby before the SOVREN (societry of vintage racing enthusiasts) [ http://www.sovren.org ] with the northwest historics. Here, before the atual show begins, on eof the local mercedes dealers "donates" 10 cars to be broken in by people like me! ;)

Also I remember the past few years there have been some ferrari events on one of the piers in seattle - my guess is that it would probably be simmilar to that, except this is a bit more open to more than italian stuff and it's on the eastside so thats big bonus points! ;)

Yeah, I should've introduced myself but I'm not known enough yet in the Ferrari chat community to introduce myself like that but next time, I won't miss you. The only people I recognized at the show were Willis with his Beige hat and Kuzi with his glasses and both of them were from pics I had seen on here before.

My father had an E39 M5 up until last july and it was black so seeing Willis's Nero/bordeaux 360 Modena was quite a sight as well!

Guillaume,
wish you had introduced yourself around the crowd and found us! I was wondering if you were going to show or not. I was also looking around for the Leong brothers who usually drive down.

Great turn out at FoS. Good cross section of cars including the Lambos and Masers. Lots of Alfas and Panteras too. I enjoyed them all.
I was disappointed in the 'Bait and Switch" routine for lunch as well. Tickets? What tickets?
I stayed and paid because I didn't want to go through the hassle of dragging my car out after the major clusterf**k getting in and out of the parking lot. Ended up parking across the street anyway. Had my 78 yr old dad with me too. Food was pretty good and seconds were available so I made the best of it.
Personally I think they could have done without the Whitney Houston wannabe. Too LOUD! Save it for 'Cheezy Lounge Lizard Night' at the local hangout.
All in all a good day!

AH! That was a very nice event today! the most Ferrari's I've ever seen in one place! The Enzo was GREAT! but the 250 LM was just stunning! it made my day! even more so than the Enzo...

I must say I was impressed by the turnout, so many 360's, so little 550's/575's though.

If you look closely, Gary Reed took a picture of me! I'm the one with half a body showing on the picture of the black 550 Maranello...my friend is the guy with the cap.

I was surprised at seeing over a dozen 360s and so few 355s, what's happened to them all?

Definately was very cool to see the Enzo in person finally...and next to an F40 no less. Wish they had brought out the F50 that was sitting in the garage bay, would have been great to see all three together in the same room!

Glad Greg brought out the 250GTO and 250LM as well...wish more early cars would attend. The 330 crowd was well represented ;).

Gary, thanks for sharing those great pics!

BTW, The Cal Spyder is 1431 GT. I saw it at Pebble Beach in 1998. Beautiful car!

Willis good observation on all the 360's. Where were all the 355's and TR's? I think there were two of each this year. And no F50 or F40 (running at least, there was one F40 in the showroom).

All in all, it was the best turn out ever, and great to see all the wonderful cars. Noted some really neat Alfas too!

Stewart,
I agree, we shouldn't blame FoS, but perhaps they could choose a different venue for the "after party" next year, as I had a GREAT time up to the IA portion of the event...

250GTO s/n 3413GT 1962 car rebodied by the factory in 1964

More details below:
http://www.barchetta.cc/english/All.Ferraris/Detail/3413GT.250GTO.htm

I was really surprised by how quiet it sounded when compared to the 250LM.

Dave:
I definitely felt "less valued". I actually paid the $10 because my kid was there and he was hungry. But right after we paid and got in line, one of the I.A. salespeople took a group of guys and cut right in front of us, none of them have or need tickets.
I have to say this is not F of S's fault, but they should have some degree of control when their vendor is going to benefit from this event.
Hey Tino, don't go back next year.

250LM s/n 5907 1964 with Maranello Concessionaires UK.

I wish I had a chance to chase this car when we went on I-5 and cross Lake Washington on 520. Unfortunately, Albert had that privilege and I was a group behind.

Stewart,
I agree the lunch thing was handled poorly. The invitation cards implied that lunch was being provided, yet they only handed out "lunch coupons" to a select few. Leaves everyone else thinking they are "less valued" than the rest.

Either include everyone or don't do it. Bottom line is this stuff costs money, no arguement there, but they could have done free Costco hotdogs, pop and chips for everyone for a couple hundred bucks, ...and no feelings would be hurt. This is a "marketing" opportunity after all...

There is no disappointment without expectation.
Perhaps I was disappointed because I was "invited" to be there to check out their "nice new showroom". I guess if they note on the email "lunch served at $10 a person" then I would decide whether to attend or not.
When I saw the woman there at the beginning of the lunch line with an envelope full of money, I thought she was giving them out as honorarium!

Andrew,

I believe that this 250 GTO is a 1962 that was rebodied to a series II, by the Ferrari factory.
I have high res (1+MB)photos of the GTO and LM that I can email to you if you like.

It's weird to see so many 360's today. I think we outnumbered the 308/328 group.

Man, Just seeing the 250GTO and 250LM up close made my day! What about the engine roar of the 250LM? Sheeesh!

Willis/Stewart,

I agree, the lunch "ticket" deal wasn't handled very well. A group of us left and drove over to Red Robin for lunch.

I think more than a couple people were put off by the lunch ticket problem. I was not aware of any distribution of tickets while I was wondering around at Ferrari of Seattle. A better way would be to distribute the tickets to the participants right after they've parked their car at Ferrari of Seattle. But overall it was a good effort putting this event together.

We could have walked a block east from the stereo store and have some real Chinese food instead. :-)

Great effort to F of Seattle to pull the group together. There must have been over 50 Ferraris in front of the dealership. The Enzo was there inside the showroom for all to gawk at.

Previous years the destination venue after the dealership lineup was the Mercer Island Lid Park. A beautiful park overlooking Lake Washington. As seen in this picture:
Upload

This year is a real disappointment. We were invited to a parking lot car show at Innovative Audios location in Bellevue. Which is basicallya parking lot. There was no organization of car display Ferraris mixed with any and all makes. I guess Innovative Audio used the Ferraris as their own marketing angle to sell overpriced car stereos. And the worst part is: yes, they served lunch, the catch is you have to pay for it. I guess they give free lunches to their own customers and prospects but us Ferrari guys have to pay $10 to eat.

When it really comes down to it, $10 is not really a lot of money even for a poor cheap bastard like me. But it really rubbed me the wrong way to be invited and contribute to some businesss marketing gimmick and they still want to make money off you.

I wont be going next year if it is going to be the SOS.Am I the only Ferrari guy there who was a bit put off?? Now I know where NOT to go for my car stereo, hows THAT for marketing??

Ferrari of Seattle had their annual car show in front of their dealership today. One club member brought his 250 LM, 250 GTO and his new Enzo! Lots of other fantastic cars too, including a LWB-California Spyder, etc..
