Warren, I thought about that as well last night. That is why I think the memorial should be subdued and classy and not gaudy. I dont think we should use last names (just say "Jens and Amar") and keep it to a 1/2 page, color peice. Nothing to extreme maybe just a brief statement of remembrance imposed over the prancing horse logo (I could write to Ferrari corporate about any copyright issues, but I would hope they would not mind) and maybe a statement of goodbye and god speed written in Italian. | ||

I will try to set up a PayPal account later this evening and then create a new post with all the information. I think this is the best way to go about getting donations. I still need to get a hold of Rob to make sure he agrees with this idea since FerrariChat is his creation and the memorial would appear on behalf of FChat. If we have any graphic artists on the board, please let me know and maybe they can help design something very respectful and classy that we can submit directly to Forza without having to hire a professional ad/design agency. That way, if we get the Forza space for a low cost or free, the money that we collect in the PayPal account can be given to Jens' and Amar's families or some other appropriate use (for example the tree concept). | ||

Linda and I are in, Just a thought, I think a large tribute it Forza is a great idea. Second, We twice purchased a large flowering tree for the family/ies that suffered the lose. We had the tree planted where the family indicated and every spring it would flower with new and beautiful life. It was a lasting tribute to the precious life lost. Just a thought. Giving a needy family money for help is a good idea, for anyone else, it seems empty. This will be with us a long time, Regards to all, John/Linda | ||

After it became clear yesterday that it was in fact them I had to leave. The thought has haunted me through the night. More with a blank stare than anything but now reading how deep all of our family really is brings tears to my eyes. Yes, I am in. Rob and I have contacts to Forza if that helps at all. I am sure we can do something in Forza as well as send the remainder of the funds to the families or give them a choice of their favorite charity. | ||

I can check out the free ad from Forza. But, I am also open to a fund to donate money to the families. I talked with my fiancee about what happened and she thought that donating to the families might be the most appropriate thing to do. If that is the case, is there anybody on the board that knows the families? If so, then maybe they would be a more appropriate point person. What do you all think? As far as contributions, the best way might be to send a cash donation. We can use that to pay for the ad and if there is anything left over we can figure out how to give it back to the families. I need time to think about the best way to get it all organized, but maybe it is best if everyone who is interested send me a private e-mail and I can give you my contact information. That way, if you all feel comfortable sending your donation to me, I can work with Rob and anybody else who would like to help out to get the ball rolling. As money is collected, I can update everybody on the totals. If anybody has a suggestion for a better way to handle the donations, please let me know as I am open to suggestions. | ||

It is terribly sad to lose friends. And we have all lost two today. I never met either Jens and Amar and similarly I have never met many others on this board. However, I consider us all to be friends and members of a family. I propose that FChat put a memorium in Forza in place of the regular advertisement for Jens and Amar. I don't doubt that every member of this board would be willing to chip in $5 for a nice tribute to two men who truly had the passion. |
