Taek, Congrats! Saw the pics you posted on Lambo-talk.
The shape is truly sublime! And all the little touches that only truly hand made processes can produce...AAAHHHH, a real connoisseur! Imagine, EVERY panel hand beaten or finished, each matched on the chassis for final finishing, a final product of some craftsman's pride. I WANT ONE!!!

The 308 is advertised as having 58k km, red on tan. Dealer has had it for a whle so probably wants strong money. Might be in really good shape though. Side turning indicators are rectangular, does that mean North American car? I'll check it out today if time permits.

Yeah, a 350. Superleggera alloy body by Touring. Talked to someone selling a Miura but he wanted insane money for his car. I admit it was in excellent condition but no records and no recent majors, and about 70% more than what the market was asking for a car like his. Geez... I can't blame him though. He wasn't a very motivated seller.

In case nothing comes of it I'm still in the hunt for others and for 400GTs (2 seaters), and Miuras as well. Being a consumate masochist I prefer cars which will have to undergo at least a light restoration but no missing parts or rust buckets.

The 308 I plan on acquiring irrespective of the 350 or Miura or whatever new techno-doohickey I get (a la Porsche Turbo). I've always wanted the "glass" 308s in Euro dry sump trim. One of the best designs and definitely a car that stirs my emotions many years down the road. Lucky for me they are actually quite affordable! I appreciate your willingness to help Adrian!

Taek, there's a Toronto 308 Fiberglass. I'll look into it for you. Don't know the details.

So which car is it? Don't keep me in suspense! Lambo 350?

Adrian,

I've found the car. Now the painstaking part of negotiation is taking place. Catalog the restoration, find parts, get estimates, place offers, etc.

Keep an eye out for a good Miura candidate though. If you find one please let me know!

Also talking to a guy in France who is selling his 76 308GTB Fiberglass car. We'll see how that pans out. Not too thrilled about the shipping process should I go through with it.

As for Faisal, he has manufacturer's plates that allow him to have the car on US roads. I think it's a temporary thing, but we'll just wait for him to explain that one.

Adrian,

There's no way that thing is street legal. Still has the Brit plates:

BU6R OF

Hahahaha! Gotta love it. I think Faisal has manufacturer's plates on the car. More like a piece of paper taped to the window, actually.

Eric,

We all agree that we'd like to see your 512 more often! Yours is the first I've seen up close and personal in that color, and it's awesome!!!

Faisal,

Looks like you've got the left lane handled very well well.

Eric- So glad you made it, I wanted to stay and chat more but you had to run :-) Next time!

You have quite possibly one of the most beautiful and well cared for 512 TRs I have *EVER* seen in my life. The 512 is my dream car, thanks for making one real :-)

I think it acutally looks newer than new, they didn't look that good coming off the boat! (what with your exhaust gleaming through the mesh grille, and I think you've somehow made it shineier! wonderful!)

Faisal- you mean, gulp, that's with cats and exhaust? I could hear you with the windows up, at somewhere north of a buck twenty, when you and Taek were pulling on me about 500 feet ahead!

Amazing!

I've always been a biiig time TVR fan, ever since I saw one in Performance Car mag. It was a huge thrill to finally see one in the flesh, and on public US roads no less! Thank you :-)

lol the 50s, I like that! 2050 was a good year!

Best!
Ben.

Thanks for the compliments. Yeah, I do need to drive that sucker more often and put some miles on it. Ken, come to think of it were you looking for a 512TR or 512M?

DES,

Faisal's car is VERY comfortable. You sit very low, but the seat's track is unbelievable. Slides really far back. I'm a relatively short guy at 5'8" but with my legs extended the tips of my toes barely touched the end of the footwell.

Noel's car is also quite a sight. Very clean and well cared for. Very nice Barbie in there too. :-) Don't let him fool you when he says the Ferrari Barbie is for his kids. I think I caught a glimpse of him brushing the doll's hair in traffic on 19th St. :-)

You're right Ken. That grigio TR is fantastic. I was too busy drooling to snap any pictures of it. Looks like a showroom car.

DES, if you're into driving, left-hand shift takes just a few minutes to get used to.

Getting used to driving a rhd car over here takes a bit more practice. You have to change your frame of reference to the white shoulder line and then get used to positioning your car a bit further over so that it sits in the lane like the other cars.

Rhd is a big bonus if you are driving fast and you keep coming up on left lane huggers...very easy to see if it's safe/clear to go around from the right. It's a big minus though, on small winding roads when you're stuck behind a lumbering truck. A passenger can help. I have also become a believer in the power of prayer...

Having spent the night in the car twice, yes, it's very comfortable. Seats recline all the way back, and the footwells are very deep, so there's plenty of legroom. The passenger seat slides forward very far, so the rear passenger can have *some* room.

There's a TVR "web-ring" on the internet. Google it and you will find yourself immersed in the world of TVR.

My friend in Germany, Christof, is probably the only person in the world who's a bigger fan of TVR than I am. Here's his present car, a TVR T350C.

Faisal, i remember seeing the Tuscan in Swordfish, but have never seen another... Then i saw the model for the TVR Speed 12 and i had to have it - however, the picture of the factory Speed 12 you took at Spa looks nothing like the model i have - i like the one in the picture, more...! Kinda looks like someone took a bit of a Viper and a bit of a Bugatti and mixed it all around... That wing looks killer on that car, too... i'm not too into aftermarket wings, but that just accentuates the car's purpose... Truly an exotic...

Thanks for posting some awesome pictures... i need to find out more about these cars... Definitely new to me but intriguing, nonetheless...

Ben, thanks for the compliments. I just *love* the snorts! When I had no cats and straight exhausts, it used to shoot 2-foot flames and the backfires sounded like a cannon going off!

TVR interiors designs are among the best I have ever seen. Amazing swoops and swirls. I read in some magazine that they look like they are out of the 50's, the 2050's! Here's a pic of my car's interior:

DES, thanks. Andrew is right, I have a Cerbera (4.5 litre version), not a Speed 12 monster! Cerberas came in 4.2 and 4.5 litre V8s, and also a 4.0 litre V6 called the Speed 6.

The Cerbera Speed 6 was raced extensively and the engine is now used throughout TVRs product line. Now they are being raced and tested in the Tuscan Rs, two of which were fielded at Le Mans. One was shunted off early in the race, and the other one had a non TVR part fail, I think it was the diff.
Here's a pic:

No Speed 12s have been delivered to customers. There's rumours of a Prodigy band-member having one on order, but only 3 or 4 were built, and they are lying around in various stages of disassembly after some hard racing.

I belive Faisal has the 4.5 (!!) It goes like hell, and sounds incredible too. Sounds like a race motor, between shifts it coughs and blaps quite satisfingly!

AMAZING to see one tearing through the US highways, we need more! :-)

It's colour is a beautiful metallic blue with a bit of green as well. The dominant color is blue.

The interior alone in these cars is just amazing!

Best!

Andrew, i know next to nothing about TVRs - just that they're gorgeous; i've never seen one in person, but, you know, pictures and yadda yadda... The model i have of a Speed 12 and the detail of the interior - if it's anything like the real thing - just blows me away... The car looks a little on the beefy side, but i'm sure it needs to be seen in person before final decisions are made...

Noel,

Shame you had to leave us to play with your Barbie. Glad you're embracing your "hobby" in public. Bet that feels like a ton of weight off your chest!

The Turbo is fun, but I'm still not up to redline yet. I have to still take it kind of easy until I break 2k miles. I have about 1600 right now. So no downshifting to get the meat of the powerband and no turbo at full bar. Can't wait though...

I have a pic of Faisal's TVR from behind in traffic. Don't know if you noticed Faisal, but the guy next to you slammed on his brakes to get a closer look at the car. Hahaha! It's awesome to see these guys do double takes when they see this thing. Right hand drive, mind you...

I didn't take any pics, sorry. Most of the cars I see every year, so it was a bit boring from that (very spoiled) viewpoint. The Stradale was nice.

We weren't racing, so let's just say the Porsche and the TVR kept up with each other!

Guys, pleasure to meet all of you at FoSF. Damn, I missed the early morning fun led by Art, but I was still working on my REM sleep. Sorry last one to arrive and first to leave, but have to keep the wife in good spirits if I want to continue to come out and play. Everyone's car looked fantastic wish I could have been on the caravan down to PA. Thanks for organizing and welcoming a newbie to the group.

Art, can you send me info on the So Cal event I think you were talking about. Thanks.

Taek, great looking P-Car I'm sure it's a beast. Maybe c'ya around our neck of the woods.

Noel, yeah, what's up with the voodoo barbie doll? :-)

Vincent, from the sounds of our increasing DMV rates no need to rush in getting plates. Car doesn't look a day over 10k miles, I'll try to put more miles on mine.

Faisal, too bad about Autozotica...let's see about putting our own summer drive together.

Anyone got any pics of the PA show?

Faisal- join us next week! Had a blast trying my darnest to keep up with you guys at 'undisclosed' speeds on the way down! Bet you were hardly working.

The standing start in SF was great, with Noel and Faisal jumping out infront, and then comes Taek *screaming* by in the fighter!

Faisal- I really loved how the Cerbera blaped and was otherwise facious on the off-throttle! That is one SWEET car! EB110 was waaaay cool. Much smaller in person, which I dig.

PS: sorry I lost you guys at the show, we'll have to exchange cell numbers next time, do'h! :P

Very envious when I heard about the pre-drive Vincent, Art, and Ben had before we met up. I had a close call with a couple of cops and a Cadillac CTS, but it all worked out great--many thanks to everyone who showed up.

We had a memorable drive down to the concours with Taek's whooshing jet fighter of a 911 TT, and Noel's Ferrari till he peeled off.

Show was good. Highlight for me was the Bugatti EB110. Couple of nice Ferraris to. And some rare cars in the parking lot. Ben, anyone else who took pics--please post.

Thx,
Faisal.

I had a great time guys, thanks to Vincent and Art for BOTH giving me unforgettable rides in their cars! Vincent- it was my absolute pleasure to be able to ride with you, your 348 is just georgeous, and it was my first ride in the 348! You kept up with Art (a madman who knew the road like the back of his hand, I love it!)

Art- It was wonderful riding with you today, hearing the Tubi wail. Car never even got loose, just begged you for more. You had way more left I could tell.

Have to do this again SOON ! :-) (and Vincent, we have to get you on the track! )

Concours was pretty cool, met many intresting people, including a guy who races Pikes Peak... in a 2000hp semi truck cab... in a 4-wheel drift... gotta love it! (he also has a ~700hp Bugatti EB110) Saw countless cool cars, a 512M, BBi, and an early something special I'll talk about later! ;)

I also got to fall in love with the 308 all over again.

Best!
