>>>Aren't those Q's doggie?<<

No more doggie than a Rolls if that's what you mean and just as luxurious imo.

>>Mechanically speaking?<<

I think Q-Portes are pretty much built like trucks, strong & durable with very few issues actually, maybe front spring issues and ball joints, but otherwise very soilid imo. Engines are a piece of cake to service and last forever.

>>>Why are they worth so little?<<

Looks !!(certianly not ugly, but not world shattering either) & 4 doors. And they've just been forgotten.

>>My picks for ultra depressed supercars: Citroen SM; A-M Lagonda, and the Espada.<<

The Citron SM has/had lots of issues. The other 2 have been somewhat forgotten like the Q-Porte but not quite to the same degree.

>>The Lambo would be the one to have in my book. Whaddya think?<<

Have to agree that the Lambos still turn heads more than any of the others. Lambo is the ultimate sports car icon all things being equal. Espadas are sadly very under valued for what they are, although because of the depressed prices many have fallen into neglect.

Ralph, give Tony Jones at Barrett Ferrari of San Antonio a call. I was there yesterday finalizing a deal on a 355 Berlinetta and they have an '89 Red/Tan Mondial T Cab sitting on the floor that is gorgeous.

Tony sets the standard on professionalism for a Ferrari Dealer, there are many that could learn from him.

His number is 210-341-2800.

Dom yes the GT4 is far more aggressive
looking. I am just looking for a car
to go around for an hour or two. The
car does not have to be completly user
friendly

Besides my little kids are cool !!!!
They could care less about legroom.
They do not mind sitting anywhere they
can. They just want a ride in any
exotic. This is SO cool !!!

3 out of 4 can talk and want to know
everything about exotics. It is funny
to hear a three year old girl talking
about Lamborghinis and Ferraris. My car
is loaded with little fingerprints all
over the glass. They know to not lean
on the car.

I told my 7 year old daughter she can
have an exotic when she is 16 and gets her drivers license. My 10 year old son went
off like a roman candle. I told him that
he can purchase a used car when he is 16.
I told my 7 year old daughter that it was
just a joke. She believed me for a moment.
My ten year old did not like that.

They have that SHARP eye out looking
for every exotic out there. Sometimes
they mistake a Dodge Stealth for that
"special" car !

My ten year old wants to know how fast
(((((all)))))) of these cars go.

But dad that car only goes 185 !

It is not as fast as the Mclaren and
the Bugatti Veyron on and on ~ etc.....

I am just going to have to purchase a
car that has a speedo that does not
tell the truth. We all know about
that one.

>>M Q-porte gets my vote too. It looks fantastic!<<

The interiors of the Maseratis are very luxurious and elegant and far more durable than the Ferrari spray painted leather. The ride is very nice for a passenger hauling designed car also. And the engines are very durable and inexpensive to maintain compared to Ferraris. Plus you can carry 5-6 people in comfort.

And best of all...they are really really cheap for what you get with the money.

A beater Dino goes for $15K while a Show Room Q-Porte goes for $15K.

I have a Mondial T Conv for sale. The car is a Platinum Award Winner at Cavallino Classic 2003.

As for collector status?????? what does that mean on a mass produced Ferrari anyway?

Ralph, it's not Italian but my M5 has four doors and will out-run and out-handle most two door cars out there that call themselves sports cars.

Ralph,

The GT4 is, IMHO, the most underrated Ferrari out there. It is different lookswise and it's fun to drive. And prices appear to be rock bottom.

But, I've got to tell you, the back seats are small. The car seat we have for my 2 y.o. daughter does not fit in the back seat, so I have to put it in front (and my pregnant wife sits in the back). You can buy smaller car seats, though, which I will get around to one of these days.

The mondial has more room in the back, but I just don't like the looks as much as the GT4. The GT4 is more raw. Almost like a muscle car.

I have had 4 adults in the car. Not comfortable, and it helps that I am only 5ft5in. But for short trips it is doable.

JRV I do not like four door cars.
The M Q-Porte is about the best out there
though.

I have heard only good things about Eddie K.

Soda in the back ? NO WAY. Just water.

I am really being drawn to the GT4. The
GT4 just looks different and appealing.
It is difficult for me to explain my
opinion. I have not been around many
GT4's. I suppose it has an early 70's
feel (Which it is). The Mondial T is
alot more modern.

For a Multi-Passenger car you might want to look into a Maserati Q-Potrte. Cool cars when the whole family just has to go along.

If you plan to drive it why spend the extra money on a "collector grade" car ? Buy a good well maintained driver and enjoy it. That way if one of your kids spills soda in the back you won't get so upset. And, I bought a 400GT and a 330GTC from Eddie Karam and they were bought great cars. You can reach Eddie at 610.659.1983.

Ralph: I was just on the phone with my friend, Eddie K., who has a black/black Mondial T conv. with 6k miles. His cars are usually impeccable, no stories cars. If you want his number, let me know. Others here can vouch for him. I have bought 2 older cars from him and both were "perfect"(ie as good as it got out of the factory, and then, sometimes, better).

Greg I know what you mean. If that is
bad, imagine the "entry" level 12's !

Peter ~ Does F of SF possibly have a car ?
I am assuming you might have seen
one ?

Imagine a nice Ferrari for a little more
than a new Ducati motorcycle ? Ducati's
are great also !

Thanks

Greetings:

I have four "little" kids. It is diffucult
to get all of them and my wife in a strict
two seater. I got three of them and my wife
in a two seater. We had to drop the car off
and drive about five miles. It was not very
fun. This was done on a Sunday AM.

How difficult is it to locate a really nice
original collector grade GT4 / Mondial T
as a Sunday family car ?

The problem is that a major service costs
a good percentage of the value of the car.
This will unfortunately bring about less
than perfect service with quite a few cars.

How hard are the quality cars to find ?
I have never looked.

GT4 Dino's
Mondial T's conv and coupe.
