I am planning to attend the Concorso...but am confused now. It's going to be a family trip, so the bottomline is...is it still worth coming?

2004 annual FCA event was NEVER in conjuction with CI (AFAIK), the 2 are completely seperate. While that might have seemed like a good marriage, I think the agendas were too far apart.

Ponder this...when you are getting your date ready for the prom, they change the location, band, caterer, etc... does that mean you don't go? or go to an alternate smaller more informal gathering?

Not that I'm really into promoting CI, but the planning of an alternate (simultaneous) informal event (of a yet unknown nature) seems (IMHO) futile. Especially since there is already an annual alternate (simultaneous) informal Lambo event, maybe they'll get 10x as many cars now.

I think it was the definition of ":original" that was the straw that broke the camels back.

I'm a bit confused too with all this talk. Recently though, I did receive an event update email from the Concorso saying how they already have more Ferraris registered for the event than they had at last years.
There's also something going down with Concorso working with the Cav. Classic, not sure if you'd heard...

"Mercer Island, WA -- June 5, 2003. The Concorso Italiano today announced a new dynamic, multi-year alliance with Cavallino Classic, the renowned Palm Beach, Florida, Ferrari event founded by John and Alicia Barnes, owners of the highly acclaimed Cavallino Magazine.

This alliance replaces the Vintage Ferrari Concours held at Concorso Italiano over the past 10 years. The new location at Black Horse presented the unique opportunity to establish an internationally recognized Ferrari competition on the West Coast, with the Cavallino Classic as the new organizing host.

Together, the Cavallino Classic and Concorso Italiano will form a Super Concours for all Ferrari owners within the framework of the Concorso. This new competition to be known as The Cavallino Classic at Concorso Italiano will be open to all Ferraris and will be judged according to the universally accepted IAC/PFA guidelines"

Completely silly. Go anyway and have fun, show your car and hang out with other folks who enjoy Italian cars in a beautiful setting.
Im with you Martin. In the big scheme of things this is meaningless and its not what a car show is about no matter who is running it. Sad overall but Im going anyway.

Makes me wonder, what this is going to do to the big 2004 August event. I was planning to attend. Hmmm...

I have been hearing all kinds of things about this year's Corcorso Italiano at Black Horse Golf Course (new venue for this year). Evidently the FCA-Pacific Region and the owners of the CI had a "falling out" of some kind, and the FCA is "pulling out" of this event. Since almost all of the cars registered so far are from CA, and FCA-PR is pushing for its members to pull out of this event and get partial refunds, do I assume that the amount of cars at the event will drastically be cut? I understand that the FCA will have an "alternative low-key fun" event on Friday, August 15th. Does anyone know where and what time, etc.? I was thinking of driving over from Phoenix (hopefully with a small caravan) and hooking up with a contingent of San Diego or LA caravans going up to the Monterey Area. Can someone please let me know what the politics of this thing are and how we got to this point?
