Mick, Glad it helped. I place the front jackstands under a beefy part of the frame just inside and to the front of the jacking point. Good luck. Tom |

I bought great steel ramps from Sportys, but you can get those heavy duty plastic ones that are allot lighter. I have done this at least 50 times. Drive up on ramps, on my car to access the frame for jack stands you must remove an aluminum cover, two jacks on either side at rear jacking points, jack up slowly from each side. I place the rear stands just in front of the rear control arm pickup point. |

My 308 never cracked, and my current 328 is fine too... I never heard my mechanic mention a windshield cracking... :-) Let's face it sh*t happens. My buddy had a shop put his Daytona on a lift to do an alignment a couple weeks ago, and the passenger window shattered. How do you prevent that? |

I was taught to jack my car per Tom Buckley's method from a local Seattle Ferrari mechanic. |

I want to hear about this one! I too have often thought about the amount of tourque placed on the windshiled during the raising of the front end. These frames seem to have a fair amount of flex. |

Sorry to have to ask, but how does the jacking affect the windshield? I'm not going to challenge this, mind you, with the recent thread about windshield prices (!!). Just curious. |

I've had my Mondial up on stands many times. Procedure provided by Ric Rainbolt 3 years ago. Jack up both sides at the rear by placing a jack under the cross brace that runs side to side just behind the engine. Place jack stands. Jack the front, one side at a time, by using the jacking point. It works for me and I never had a problem. Hope I helped. |

Michael..If you need a cheap, low floor jack, I bought a couple from WalMart. It is a $20 unit, gray. I took the wheels off and it works great on my 308! |

I think the one side at a time is a problem too, the real trick is to take is slowly whatever you do |

I would not jack up one end for extended periods of time, otherwise you risk damage to the windshield, this happened to another chatter recently, btw it can happen after only a few min but if the car is going to be out of commission for a while put it up on all 4. if I were you I would take planks of wood and bring each side up slowly one plank at a time, then within a few inches of the stand do the run around like you suggest - either that or get two pump jacks |

can't you jack up both fronts and then both rears at the same time? or jack up each side so that the front anf rear wheels come off the ground? if it won't take too long for the wheels to be done, you can keep the jack under the car and the reinforce with some wood blocks?? just to take the pressue off of the floor jack. I'm no expert, but I have done this before. |

Hi , Please can some one tell me how and where to place the stands on my mondial as I would like too take 2 wheels off at a time,,to get them powder coated,I am not a verry clever when it comes to mechanics.I was thinking of putting the pump jack behind the front wheel on the jacking point, jacking the front side up slidding the stand in and then running to the other side front to do the same ..But this sounds risky to me .. I think the car might slide off the stand,Thankyou Mick.. |
