Clutch is all the way in, you can "drop" it too to induce a burnout, but most recent F-cars have enough power to just light them from a slow 1st gear roll.

This is not the fastest start, but probally the most show-ey :-)

Fastest start (varies by car, but generally) does involve sliping the clutch a little, and getting the tires to juuuust the point where they start to slip a tiny bit. <all with gas 'commited' or floored in most cars. If you can hear 'em well, typically you over-cooked it and are now going slower.

Best!
Ben.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know...

What I want is more technical. I'm especially concerned with the clutch. Is it slipping or fully engaged?

This may sound stupid, but can someone define "peel out?" I know what it looks and sounds like, obviously, but what's happening mechanically?

The equivalent procedure in a 6-speed is:

Put in gear with clutch in, floor gas when clutch releases into friction zone.

Not sure if it is peal or peel, but it was still fun. I have a 360 F-1, and I was at a local ferrari event, and a fellow member gave me some pointers on how to peel out. It is not something I will do very often but it sure was fun. Basically I just put the car in sport mode turned the ASR off, put the car in gear, blipped the gas, and then put the pedal to the floor. What a ride. Coolest thing I have ever done, felt like I was 16. I was on clean paved drive, and I left rubber well into second gear. In fact you can see where I shifted. The car lefft rubber for a good 50 feet.
This is not something I will do very often, and I may not do it again, but man I am sure glad I did it once.
