Wyatt, Did you really expect the WRX to stay with a new M3 accelerating? The subie is less than half the money. Let me pick the road, and it may be a different story. Plus, the new STI at about 30K will stay pretty close to the M3. Dave |

WRX aren't that fast 0-80... I was in an M3 Cab 6spd (2003) the other day... We raced one at the light, and he was sooooo far behind us (and that was on a misshift into 3rd)... But you can't compare an Italian car from the 70's to a Japanese car from the 21st century. |

Academically speaking, Volvos with Suburus running a close second. Vintage porsches score very low these days among academics, as do ferraris. |

Based on Tony's six stated criteria; the obvious choice is the Subie WRX! A brand new V6 Honda Accord would give a 308 a run for its money, but what is the point? Me? Those are not my criteria, so the 308, of course. |

I've wanted an EVO ever since the III. But the VIII is a bit uncomfortable, has rather bad winter tires, and (check my profile) won't fit in the @#$% garage!. The STi is only 2 inches longer than the Celica. The EVO is almost 7. Oh, and on the topic: If you have a Ferrari _and_ a WRX, you don't need the 911 -- except maybe to mow the lawn. <ducking> |

Hi All three are totally different cars, If you tell people you own a porsche or Subaru they reply which model? If you say you own a Ferrari, people reply, "Ohhh a Ferrari". That says it all. It really depends on what you want the car for? Thanks Steve |

I agree with Frank. Although 911S is also not Italian. Somehow Subaru is not respected nor popular, but they are very good car. Used to drive 2 of them in college days. Forgot the name, but it looked like a jet & looked sporty while another was a small station wagon. DGS, EVO is what I would pick if I were you. You mean Lance Evolution here right? Looks great & stands out in winter traffice, especially it it is a black. |

My vote is for the Subaru due to its build quality, warranty, appliance-like reliablity and its appliance-like exhaust note. Also, its common knowledge that a Subaru is a chick magnet car. With the 308 you have to explain its Dino heritage and face the potential of 12 cylinder people snubbing you. With the Subaru you are on the top of the Subaru food chain looking down at all those posuer Subaru Brat drivers. |

For the money and from a reliablity and performance standpoint, the WRX wins against those cars by a large margin. But, it still ain't an Italian car. |

My son has a 76 911S, his friend a new Subaru Imprezia WRX, and I have a 78 308GTS. 1. 0-60, 2.1/4 mile, 3. slalom, 4. 100-140 acceleration, 5. braking 100-0, 6. fun to drive track and street. I realize you may not be firmiliar with all of these cars, but as a general impression, I would be interested in comments, after all, I am proud of my choice. |
