"BTW, if anyone's keeping track of the TNN Miami Vice episodes, tomorrow begins SEASON 3. You know what that means - season opener should have the Daytona being blown to bits, followed by the next episode - enter white Testarossa! Set your TiVos!!!"

Michael, many, many thanks for that!!!

For months I've been trying to find a Miami Vice episode with the white TR, but only found the black "Daytona". Finally! A dream come true.

I've seen most all of the ones mentioned, but the first five minutes of THE HIDDEN had me buying one on Ebay the next day.....

The audio of The Gumball Rally is great, but slightly fuzzed from too much gain in the sound dub. Still a keeper with Raul Julia's
famous 'First Rule of Italian Driving'!

BTW, if anyone's keeping track of the TNN Miami Vice episodes, tomorrow begins SEASON 3. You know what that means - season opener should have the Daytona being blown to bits, followed by the next episode - enter white Testarossa! Set your TiVos!!!

After seeing a post on this thread about the movie "The Hidden", I watched it last night. It is a strange one. But the black 308 in the beginning as awesome. Within the first 5 minutes the car is distroyed. The only thing I don't understand is why do they want to distroy a Ferrari? :-( The movie itself is good though long. I wish they would update it. It would be a great movie with the technology and special effects of todays movies.

In Rainman, Cruise has a 400i, if I recall. Maybe a 412, but definitely not a 308GT4.

Alberto, I watched Fellini's 8.5 several times to spot the Ferrari, but never saw it. As a matter of fact, there are only a few scenes with cars in the whole movie, the big one towards the end. Maybe it got clipped by the TV tape version I had, but I could never spot it. Where is it?

In "Can't Buy Me Love", there's a scene where two high school types are discussing how to invest $1000 to become more popular with the girls.

A 328 pulls up to the corner. One says, "Get one of those" (points to Ferrari), "and you get one of those" (points to blonde in passenger seat). The other objects that $1000 wouldn't buy one wheel.

What I like about the scene is that, during the whole discussion, the driver is inexpertly struggling to shift it into gear.

But my fave is the sound of the 365 in the NYC echo canyon in Gumball. (pavlov reaction)

While I was traveling up in Yankee land, a friend showed me a short movie called, I think, Rendezous. This has got to the be most politcally incorrect bad boy clip ever made. The plot is real simple. Sometime during the late 60s or early 70s, a guy starts out on one side of Paris in a Daytona at 5:00 am on Sunday morning. His misson? To drive straight across Paris in 5 minutes or less. The viewpoint is a camera on the hood. You can count the gears as the guy winds out the car, pedal to the metal, full fuking throttle, running red lights without backing off, dodging bag ladies. Warning, do not watch this flick with your significant other another. She'll never let you drive again. Talk about winds of the old days. You sometimes forget how collectively bad we really were...

We seem to have switched from 'your favourite movie' to the more obscure ones. So here is a list of movies with Ferraris in them I know about, but still haven't been able to get a copy of the film:

Goodbye Charly
Speedzone
Glanhouse
Generation Oxygene
Manta, Manta
Carnapping
Manicas on wheels
The Hawk of Ferrari
The young racers
The Green Helmet
Icattivi Colpi
Johnny Dark
The devil's hairpin
Fangio - Una vita a 300 all'ora.

If you have one of these films (or know where to get it), let's talk and make a deal. Happy to buy it or whatever.

Yes and no. But when Bond finally pulls into Monaco, the 355 is already parked in front of the Casino. So who wins?

But IMHO I never liked that whole scene too much. Too contrived. And those dopey bikers are so lame.

Goldeneye gives us a sexy, masochistic, speed freak, of a bad-girl flogging her 355 along the cliffs of Monaco, and spanking old 007 in his DB5. Now that's what I call Film making.

I have agree with The Gumball Rally has a great Ferrari movie.
For a non-Ferrari movie I would hae to go wih the DVD version of the IMAX movie Super Speedway and the Mach II edition it has some deleted scenes and the making of the movie.
It's a Great Movie!!!!

Boiler Room, yellow 355 coupe. Ben Affleck actually makes specific mention of the year/model when he's pitching his company to some prospects. He later takes it out to town and you hear the exhaust pretty well; other cars you see in the movie include a late year Diablo.

I see no mention of the 70s movie "A Star Is Born" with Barbra Streisand. Kris Kristopherson kills himself driving a Daytona.
Also, I just noticed while watching The GodFather Part II again, the scene late in the movie where Michael has returned to the family grounds right before he is scheduled to testify and there, partially buried in the snow, is a child's peddle car. It looks to be a 250 GT SWB or possibly a 400 SuperAmerica.

How could you forget BEVERLEY HILLS COP 2, the opening scenes were of Eddie Murphy who has a 308 in one shot and a 328 in another, the director was trying to pass one car of for another.Quite a cool opening few minuets but i wonder why they used two cars, the car was used throught the film changing cars in different takes.C

Joop,
I forgot all about Vacation! Christie Brinkley and a 308GTS...the stuff adolescent dreams were made of. If she had been driving ANY other car (911, MB SL, Corvette, etc) the movie would not have been the same.

Omar,
I almost mentioned Goldeneye, watching Bond keep up with the 355 in his old Aston was very entertaining (I believe they call that "suspension of disbelief!")

Does anyone remember the movie Vanilla Sky? Was that a 250GTO Tom Cruise has a dream about?

Nils Lukas, if you search the archives, you'll find a few threads regarding that movie; it's my understanding that the car wasn't actually speeding or it wasn't a real Ferrari at all or - well, if you search, you'll find the explanations... There are several siDES to the story...:-)

I saw a 1988 made movie (if i'm not wrong) on TV about a month ago. There was a creature entering people's bodies and forcing them to steal Ferraris (!)
I remember he was robbing a bank with the black 308 and stealing a red mondial cabriolet from the dealer.
Unfortunately i don't remember the name. Anybody remembers that one?

In my opinion, the best film I've seen that features a Ferrari, is the film "C'etati un rendezvous" made by a frenchman named Claude Lelouch in the '70s...
tere is quite an interesting story behind the film as well...

the director had made enough money from his previous film to buy a 275, and hired a racing driver to drive it through Paris on an early sunday morning as fast as possible, and it's great fun to watch, but the real entertainment is from the soundtrack, which is glorious!
when he released the film, the director was arrestes, and was forbidden to sell it... it survived, though, and has recently been re-released...

has anyone here seen it? you should...

The end of the Pink Panther on a plaza in Rome with cars speeding along and a 250 cabriolet among them. Very funny is the old man trying to cross the street and at last taking a chair to sit down and watch the scene.
Second movie is National Lampoon's Vacation in which Chevy Chase is being overtaken by a 308 with 'one hell of a driver'

Dirty Rotten Scoundrels.

Why? Had the same color combo as my first Ferrari (Mondial 3.2, white/cream). Pretty unusual. I also notice a pattern of "Steve Martin" and "Ferrari's" in his movies:

- Dirty Rotten Scoundrels: 3.2 Mondial cab
- Grand Canyon: Testarossa
- Father of the Bride 2: Mondial T cab

I know there is one other movie with him and a Ferrari in it, but I'm drawing a blank

Anyone one know the film where a girl pulls a scam with a Porsche 911, selling it to someone then stealing it back the same night and selling it again... and so on. The aim is to buy a Dino 246. She eventually does get the Dino, but then sets fire to it (don't ask.)

I saw it about 20 years ago and only remember it cos it was about the first time I'd seen a Dino on screen. It must have been made in the early 70's I guess.

Oh - I also seem to remember that she had to sell the Porsche 6 times to afford the Dino... so 1 Dino = 6 Porsche 911's. Seems like a fair rate of exchange!

Anyone remember the title?

Jeffrey, if you run into trouble doing the screen capture let me know. It is a no brainer for me (not for me, but my equipment).

Gumball Rally

The sound of the Daytona echoing off the buildings of New York, as they speed though Times Square in the early morning & pass 2 police officers. One says to the other, "It's going to be a nice day."

Classic :-O

LeMans: the only racing movie ever shot with suitable dialogue--i.e. almost none.

Grand Prix: The only racing movie ever shot by following the F1 circus around during the season.

LeMans/Steve McQueen: best movie

Gumball Rally/Micheal Sarrazin: most fun - don't expect a meaningful plot, but the car scenes and sounds, especially the 365 GTS/4 Daytona were life changing for me and my at the time Fiat 850 Spider. Also has a 427 Cobra, 300SL, 911 etc.;
I think it was Gary Busey's finest supporting role (sic). Don't confuse with the Cannonball/Burt Reynolds films. And, it popularized some memorable quotes, e.g. Raul Julia:
"The first rule of Italian driving - what's behind you is not important..."

best,
Russ

Hi........

Le Mans with Steve McQueen is on the top of the list. The new Enzo is featured in the latest "Charlie's Angels" flick.

This will hopefully be a fun little thread after all the bad news lately. What is your favorite movie featuring a Ferrari?

My personal favorite is Ferris Bueller's Day Off (even if the California isn't real). No other car than a rare, irreplacable Ferrari would have fit the role of that car in the movie. Every time I see this film I ask myself: "What would I do if I were Cameron's dad when I got home?)...
