Jeffrey, I post "vin upon request" sometimes as well. Nothing to hide here...I just find it a real pain to type a vin! |

Some people use the VIN's on kit cars etc... That would be ONE reason, though I doubt it's the best one. The reason I can think of is it gets the person interested in the car to call / contact you. |

Martin: I've always been curious; why is it that in some of these advertisements, instead of posting the VIN#, it says "by request." I've always taken that to mean that the seller has something to hide or is not being entirely forthcoming. What is the harm in posting the VIN#? Is there a valid reason for not making it public? Thanks. |

Stephen, looks like I will get a 1999 550 Maranello in red/tan 8,500 Miles, delivery from Shelton in 1999. Will know more about the car Monday hopefully. Interested?

Alex, the 550 power oversteers like crazy with the ASR turned off. This makes it amazingly good fun to drive and it breaks away really progressively too (unlike mid-engined). This trait is by design. However this engine layout also means that it doesn't have the corner exit traction that the 360 does.... Future front engined Ferraris will have a REARWARD weight bias - all the advantages of a mid-engine with none of the pain. |

I'm just curious. With the car being front engine and it being a rear wheel drive car, is there a tendency towards wheel spin? |

Steve, Your 550 needs a proper exhaust to liberate that V12 - once its got that, you've got the perfect car. |

my 2 cetns on years within a model run (somewhat influenced by my profession as a commodities trader) is to pick the earliest year. unless they had great trouble sorting out the gremlins before launching the model, there is not point in paying up for lesser age. have found that ferrari mileage (in the newer models) is usually very low anyway, so in your case get the 98-99, and be happy with the discount. |

BTW Thanks to everyone who has answered all my 550 questions in Chris Parr's thread from earlier this week. No need to repeat the info. I'll let you know how the search goes. As for Chris, well I guess I could trade a little 550 time for an F40 checkout Steve |

I'm only looking at the 550 Maranello. Anyone have a reason to favor one year over another? Is there any major recall or problem associated with early 550's? I will probably look at '98-'01. |

Bye, Bye 355... Drove the 550 to the levy and the....whatever Anyway, test drove a 550 this week and, well, that's it. Goodbye 355. Been there, done that. Give me a front engine V12, bags of torque, and solid closing doors (not to mention, the solid ride). Is it heavy, yes. Does it have enough HP to overcome this, yes. I still cannot believe that the 550 is a Ferrari. I makes my 355 feel like a go kart. |
