Stephen, was the 360 spider the one parked right in front of the window? Tell John some kid from the board sat in his car before.

Kenny,

John REALLY wanted a 360 Spyder, but he wasn't going to pay stupid money for one. Werner was just the first dealer to put a good product at a good price on the table.

Thanks also for your comments about Ferrari owners on the exotic car site. You are correct that, IMHO, one of the best things about owning these cars is sharing them with people like you who have the passion, but are just getting started. I fully expect to ride in your 250GTO or F75 someday.

It was a pleasure meeting you. Tell Wm. H he needs to let you drive his 550 Barchetta :-)

Chris Parr, John Karr, same thing :-). Thanks again Stephen, I really appreciate you including me in this process... He ended up getting the Spyder? Wasn't he aiming to spend only X amount ( you and I both know X)- thats got to be a good 100k more then X. Werners a great guy, I wish you both the best of luck.

Kenny,

Sorry, but you did not meet the infamous Chris Parr, but rather John Karr at Motor Classics Friday. Kinda confusing as they are both from Kansas City, both have F40's and both spend money on cars like drunken sailors on leave.

John was seriously considering Motor Classics GT40 replica for a run around car, but the 360 Spyder was a much better choice.

Bill,

Thanks for the advice, I'll keep it in mind. Also, I love the Grove Park Inn. I went to school at UNCW and we used to drive up there for weekends.

Just got back from NY tonight. MANY thanks to Kenny Herman for posting the photos on the net. My wife was not able to make the trip, and this way she got to see the car before I got home. You guys in NY, please spend some time with Kenny, he'll make a great Ferrari owner in a few years (in spite of his family's preference for English cars).

One last thing, I had only ever been to NYC briefly before (at the airport, quick meeting). John Karr and I had a fantastic time, and the people were wonderful. We had dinner at Nobu, in lower Manhattan, and it was like being in the warmest, most friendly city on the planet. So, to all you NY guys, thanks again for a great weekend. Oh yeah, almost forgot. John Karr just could not stand it that I bought a car, so we went up to see Werner at Miller Motorcars in Greenwich and John picked out a 2000 red/tan 360 Spyder. So now we have two cars to ship home this week. He still hasn't figured out what he is going to tell his wife.

Here is a photo of Chris Hill and myself in front of the 275 ( Chris has the apron on :-) ). Many thanks also to Chris for making sure everything was ready to go. And finally, thanks to Nick Soprano for spending the last 6 months getting this car ready.

Stephen:

Your car looks wonderful! I have always loved the 275 GTB. I remember the first one I ever saw in person. It was parked in a corner at the Grove Park Inn in Asheville, NC. I peaked in the window and saw that there was an engraved plaque on the dash where the driver could see it at all times. It read: "REMEMBER: Though art not Niki Lauda"--Good advice for any Ferrari driver!

Kenny,
I get into LGA at 1pm Friday. Should be at Motor Classic by 2:30. You are more than welcome to join the party. My friend, John Karr (F40 & 246GTS), will also be there, as will my mechanic from Autosport Gallery, Chris Hill.

And by the way, it's 3 am here in Kansas City and I cannot sleep. What is it about Ferraris that drive men to such extremes.

Well, I won't get any sleep tonight. John Karr and I fly to NY tomorrow morning to final inspect and take delivery of my 275GTB at Nick Soprano's shop, Motor Classic Corp. It's only been 6 months since I bought it and began the restoration (are you really ever done with a vintage restoration?). Anyway, looks like I will be able to make FCA-LA next month after all.

Ferrari 275GTB with rebuilt engine, and gearbox, new paint, interior, chrome, glass and wheels...cost more than my last house.

Look on my face after seeing photos of restoration...priceless.

I always wanted to be a mastercard commercial.
