Julian, I'm going to call you in about 5 minutes. Jammy, I couldn't find your email on the website profile but I have some interesting news that I think you'll want to hear regarding Koenig sports exhausts. Email me your address and I'll give you a call. I don't want to 'spill the beans' on the web... We'll be more than up and running by september and I promise personally that you'll get a fantastic deal. Right no more shameless plugs . Back to the point in question, I have seen cars out on track days running straight pipes and de-cat pipes - the LOUDEST combination possible..... Some of the challenge exhausts available for the F355 are almost deafening (implying >110db) and I have seen them all out on circuits.... Someone has the wrong information. |

Manu, Your experience of tubi equipped cars on track days is the same as mine. I also know that some circuits are more stringent than others and that dB are a logrithmic scale. Different circuit limits may not seem much as numbers, but this relates to big differences in loudness. This may explain the comment from QV in that it may be true at the most stringent tracks, though I don't know this for a fact. If you're going to set up in the sports exhaust business, I'll have an one for the 360 in September please! Can bring down the 456 as well so you can hear for yourself what the Koenig is like, that's if you haven't already got it on your 550. BTW, I don't think the standard Koenig will be loud enough for you since the 360 with the standard exhaust, at 8K rpm, is louder than the 456. Sound quality completely different of course, and the outcome is exactly what I wanted. Cheers and please mail me when you're up & running. Kevin |

I apologise in advance for my bad language but excluding MaranelloSales/MHT and a few others, most authorised Ferrari dealers don't know what they're talking about.... Julian that dealer is talking bullshit. I myself have personally seen tubi equipped Ferraris at trackdays in the UK. Tubi exhausts are not that loud for a start (not over 101db). Why are UK dealers soo reluctant to fit proper exhausts to Ferraris....? the factory is currently failing miserably to make modern Ferraris sound good out of the factory. Listen to a 550/456 and even the 360 too. Who is this dealer Julian?? HR Owen? They're a bunch of pricks with a very serious attitiude problem. The guys in Canary Wharf are decent enough but the dealers on Old Brompton Road are total wankers..... I am going to start supplying aftermarket exhaust solutions for UK Ferrari owners in the next few months - I'm setting up in Egham hopefully (near Maranello Sales) - send me an email giving me your phone number and I can advise you as to what you need (I'm not set up now so I can truly give you impartial advice). Laguna Seca has a 92db noise limit. However the db meter is located on the right side of the front straight-if memory serves-so in the past, to avoide being penalized, people have either angled the exhaust down and to the left, go into neutral as they pass, or run silencers. But, but, but, that shouldn't stop you from getting an aftermarket exhaust, I find it hard to believe that EVERY track would have a db restriction. |

This always amazes me about tracks (and here in the US they black flag you from my understanding if you are over 109db), remember when guys used to run Y pipes on the street for drag racing. I've only heard one car with them (my dad's friend) they're ridiculously loud, I mean like deafening, this is on the street albeit illegally. btw, Y pipes are a Y in the exhaust with one side going to the muffler, etc and the other side is just capped off. When you want a true free flowing exhaust you just pull off the cap and essentially all you're running is headers. How can tracks be so uptight all the time? |

A dealer here in London, told me that you can't use cars with Tubi exhausts on track days , because of noise restrictions. Is that BS or have you had that experience? |

tony the same thing happened to me.after i researched tubi, ansa, keonig, stebro, i finally went with tubi because of the quality, sound, and looks.I own a 88 tr and when my guy installed the tubi, there was a GALVANIZED gasket that i had to pay xtra for that wasnt enclosed, that took the shim and vibration right out and now sounds perfect.ASK YOUR SERVICE CENTER IF THERE WAS A GALVANIZED GASKET LEFT IN THE BOX(PROBABLY KIDDING OURSELVES NOW)THAT WENT RIGHT AFTER THE BYPASS VALVE..LET ME KNOW IF THAT HELPS YOU..GOOD LUCK BRUCE |

I have a 97 355 F1 Berlinetta with a tubi exhaust installed. The exhaust creates a very deep bass with a lot of resonating. A few weeks after installing it an annoying vibrating noise appeared. It's coming from the bypass valve. I've taken it back to the service centre 5 times now and after they "do something" to it, the noise almost immediately comes back. They tell me the valve is rattling and there is nothing I can do. They are also telling me if I replace it, the same thing will happen soon. Has anyone heard of this or am I being lied to by the agent here in Hong Kong. I would gladly buy a new one if someone can tell me the part number and how much it costs. |
