cutting away the side of the block and the heads to exposed the internals is a great look and not really to difficult. plus it lets you hide the damaged parts. doing the same to the carbs is a nice touch too. replacing the starter with an electric motor so's you can watch it go round and round would be cool too. sounds like a fun project keep us posted. good luck

Rob,

Are you planning on using just the block, or the whole motor (heads, intake)????

I am beginning to think that project is going to be more difficult than I had originally thought, as the whole engine is going to have to be taken apart, cleaned and re-assembled.

I've wanted to make a coffee table out of an engine block too.

Thanks,
I will give him 7 more days. I need one now, I'm running one cap that's 16 years old, it works "just ok" after cleaning & polishing.

I like the fact that you have the origional's for me. I'm not too sure about the repo's , and for $400.00 each,,, whew.

This dude is probably a snake, look out for;("[email protected]")
I won the auction fair & square, one new one + one used one, both for $200.00 usa.

Edward, if you cannot get ahold of the ebay seller, look me up, I will sell you a pair of OEM Marelli caps for a low price. I have the rotors also.

My first idea was the racing slick idea, or a big BBS racing wheel.

The problem is finding just one wheel for a good price.

I like this motor idea, and have a nice idea of what it should look like, but I am not sure if I have the trade skills to make it work.

James, I think that's a pretty cool idea. I might have to consider that as a replacement for my racing slick coffee table. The compromise when we moved was that I got a room to be my dedicated "F1 Lounge". After all the eye rolling and snickering, guess which room gets the most use?

James,
I'll trade you a complete 1985 Supra for it...... ? ............... (ha ha just kidding)

Right now an ebay there is "Just 1 Valve Cover" going for $102.00 usa,,,,,,,,, $800.00 CAD for the whole thing, is like $500.00 usa, that's a good deal! I wish I had the room.

Anybody, know anything about legal proceedings on ebay?

I just won a set of distributor caps, for my QV engine, the seller has yet to contact me.
(I left three emails from two different IP sources, and left him my phone # on the ebay system itself.)

HELP?

Richelson,

I believe the the waterpump, starter etc. have been removed to be used as spares for the other 308 the owner has. The valve covers are there, all pistons are cracked, the head need extensive work I dont know the condition of the block.

I was thiking of offering $800 CAD, as it has to be cleaned up quite a bit before it can be displayed.

A picture would be great Martin, as I have an idea in my head what I want it to look like but am not sure if it is realistic or nor.

The carbs look fine, so perhaps I can trade them for a pair of non-working ones to somebody who needs them. If anybody needs any parts off a motor like this, let me know, perhaps we can work something out to benefit both of us.

you will need to stip the engine and have it sand blasted and then re-pain the components.

I have a picture of my engine in the office in my camera but will not be able to get that to you before Monday after the rally tomorrow.

I would pay $ 1,000 for each engine and tranny that is complete. It looks awesome.
I have a engine sitting in my office all nice and it is a great conversation piece as well as makes me feel good if I can not drive.

Why would you want to do this. I can see saving the unusable pieces but the valve covers can be reused as well as many other components of the engine that a 308 might need. I can see using the block if it is ruined but not the useable parts. What about the Waterpump, starter, alt.? Are these components still on the engine?

Hey guys,

My friends neighbour had a 308(not sure of the year), took it racing on the track, blew the motor, rear wheels locked up, his a wall at high speed and then rolled over.

He was not injured and bought the car back from the insurance company. He then removed the whole interior, wheels, tranny, suspension and brakes and either sold what he didn't need, or transplanted it into another 308 he owned.

He has the motor remaining, but says it is in rough shape, as the head/pistons are scattered.
I was thinking of making him an offer on the motor, cleaning it up and making a coffee table out of it with a glass top to display the engine.
I figure it will look nice with the carbs being displayed.
What should I offer him for it??
Has anybody ever done this before??
This is not a joke or a thread to start flames, but a serious question.
