Go to another NJ DMV. Different DMV treat you differently. |

Thanks guys, I will pursure the options suggested. Well, lesson learned, ALWAYS TRIPLE CHECK the VIN on your titles before taking the car !! I have to admit, however, that even if I noticed it I probably would not have made an issue out of it since it seemed like such an obvious typo. Live and learn. THX, OH |

I want to title my car in another state. They told me to bring the car to that state. I asked them if there was another way? They sent me a form for a police officer or MDV official to fill out that collaborates the VIN with the title. I am sure every state is different. Try talking with a supervisor. They ""may"" be a little more knowledgeable. Ask them if an MDV official or police officer can verify this without having to ship the car to Kali. |

Do not know if this is valid but here in MA I had a similar problem with titles for Euro Ferraris and Porsches. The Euro VIN contained digits the DMV computer would not recognize. MA issued a form to correct any VIN discrepancies. The form is to be completed by a policeman or DMV rep. A local officer came to my house, verified the VIN, completed the form and signed. I was then issued a MA title. Would have to believe NJ would have a document to cover this issue. Good luck and hope this helps. |

If all else fails, you could title it through New Hampshire http://www.titlesunlimitedinc.com/how.html No affiliation, haven't used them, etc |

Earlier this year I purchased a 84 308GTS QV in California from the original owner. Got the original CA title and all signed over to me and shipped the car to NJ. I attempted to title/register it here and the NJ DMV states the VIN on the CA title is invalid, Sure enough it is off by a letter. Instead of ZFFUA it has a ZFFVA. At first, NJ stated to take a picture and pencil trace of the VIN plates and they would take care of it. I did so showing the VIN to be off by the single digit. They then did an about face and said to call CA because they are the only ones who can correct the title. CA would be happy to do so but they need to see the car, which of course is in NJ with me. Before I cut my wrists and ship the damn thing to CA for this silly correction, does anyone have any other suggesttions or run into a similar situation ? many thanks, OH |
