What happens if you drive your car on the sports mode all the time?

The Sport button also controls the lag time for throttle response. These are electronic throttles and with sport on and ASR off the car becomes a totally different animal on the track. No more hesitation coming out of a corner, stiffer damper rate, much more like a race car. Also very slidable with these controls set as above. Just remember, 360's are tricky to drive a the limit.
Neither of the above affects the 6 speed shifter at all. that's up to you.

Shawn - I posted a response to your air filter question in your other thread - people do read stuff on this forum, suggest you don't post it multiple times.

Congratulations Bill! I remember very well a year ago when I had lunch with a couple of Houston M5 owners and one of them was you, boy has time changed for you in the last year and in a great way it seems! Congratulations on the Ferrari and I can't wait to see some pictures!

Welcome Bill to the 360 owners sub group of F-chat. I know you will really enjoy the car with miles and miles of smiles. Post pics when available. The Sport setting on my car only affects the suspension and ASR. Again Congrats!

Maybe on an F1 ? Definitely not on a 6-speed, although implicitly you'll drive the car *harder*, but lets face if you want to nonce around cruising you should have a SL55 not a 360.

Drive it in the lowest great possible at all times with what my wife calls a "s**t eating grin" on your face!

Would you wear out the car more if it is always in the sports mode?

I also have a 6-speed and can confirm that sport mode does stiffen the suspension and reduces the intervention of the ASR. I can confirm that it is possible to slide the car somewhat in sport mode, its also possible to spin the tires from a standing start. You can't light them up like you can with the ASR off, but it does make for much quicker starts than without sport mode.

I suggest you get used to the car with out sport mode first. I found after a while that it was relatively easy to trigger the ASR, what happens is that you have zero throttle for what feels like an age (and is perhaps about 3/4 of a second). On the road unless you drive very aggressively, you'll most likely not trigger ASR in sport-mode very much. I personally prefer it to non-sport, the ride is certainly worse, but it feels more locked to the road.

Enjoy the car - I've done 9,000 miles in mine in the year I've had it.

Congratulations Bill. I also just took delivery of a similar vehicle recently. I always leave it in sport mode as I find normal mode shifts too slowly.

Bill,
The sport button on 360 F1 reduces shift time, stiffens the suspension and dials out some of the ASR so that it doesn't intervene so soon.

I presume the 6spd does all the above except obviously for the reduced shift time.

BTW....congratulations and enjoy the car, it's a truly amazing vehicle; glad to hear you got it in red (a must for your first Ferrari)

on a F1, it shifts quicker above 5000 rpm and the car is steadier on the road but I do not know how this is achieved. You can feel it on the highway when changing lanes. On "sport mode", it's more direct. A lot of people advised me to leave it all the time in "sport" mode.

I am very happy and proud to say that I have finally purchased my first Ferrari. It is an 03 Red 360 6spd. I have tried doing a search but am still a bit confused on what exactly the sport button does for the 6spd. Could someone please clarify.
Thanks, Bill
