Johnny Millard you know that if you give me $70K you will never see me again as I'm one of those scam artists from the Gold Coast and you know that Carl would never pay $7K for a 348 let alone $70K :P |

I don't think prices are much different in Hawaii than on the mainland, as, remember, Hawaii IS PART OF THE U.S., so import duties, etc. are no different. Maybe bit of a transportation charge to get the cars over to HNL, but in the big scheme of things, that ain't much. When you compare shop rates at some of the higher mainland F dealers, i can't imagine HNL F dealer going above that. Btw, was over in HNL in April, there's some little joint operating out of a gas station parking lot renting F cars, worth a look if you're in the vicinity, was little ways east of the Hilton H-Village complex, where the road splits off a bit at a fork(don't remember street names). Was over there a couple of times, seems they had a Modena out once, and sumpin' else another time. |

import duty is 15% luxury car tax plus GST plus compliance costs so it all adds about 35-40% to the cost of the vehicle plus the local dealers wil add heaps to cover their overheads so the figures look high but in reality a 308GTS is worth about $30-40k USD, a 348 can be had for $70k USD and a 01 360 will be just under $200k USD. Our servicings are so cheap compared to what they state in the Forza magazine that it makes it silly to do it yourself. recently had all the suspension (bushes, rubbers, springs and shocks) done for $1,500 USD in a service that included fixing the brakes by replacing all the hoses and a carb tune up plus fiting a new fuel line that was relatively expensive in the scheme of costings. |

Australia has a HUGE import tax on cars (IIRC an Aussie friend told me 5-6 years ago that it was something like 100%) and that probably accounts for most of the higher prices. |

I would imagine that Ferrari prices are much higher in Hawaii also, vs the States. |

You've either got the money to buy one or you don't. If the price is higher here, then you've got a more expensive vehicle, than what it costs here. It's all relative. Hope you can afford one. Art |

Dan: I don't know anything about the fees, duties, etc., related to bringing a car into Australia. Since the prices seem VERY high, maybe they include these fees. If not, then, WOW is that market ever inflated!!!!!!!! |

Henry, That's why I asked about duties, registration fees, taxes, etc. in Australia. Without certain context, it's hard to make an assessment. --Dan |

>>It comes out to $50K for the 83 308, and $261K for the 02 360 Coupe. These are almost double what these cars would go for here in the States.<< WHOOO HOO prices are movin up, some of the Ferrari 355 & TR guys can start changing their oil again. Hope this means the 3 a week, "how much for an oil change in my 355, if I bring my own oil" will start slackin off now. ;-) |

I just multiplied their asking price by 67% to get the US price. It comes out to $50K for the 83 308, and $261K for the 02 360 Coupe. These are almost double what these cars would go for here in the States. However, I don't know the market in Australia......may be very high!!!! |

Admiral Thrawn! Hahahaha. Bad ass! I think only Dr. Strangelove and a few others will get it. ;) Is there an import duty to Aus? The prices seem high compared ot the US market, but I don't know what other taxes, etc. you might have. --Dan |

OK, here is the website. I'm focussing on the Ferraris in the "used" section to the left of the screen for now. http://www.prestigeformula.com.au All prices are in Australian dollars (AUD). Conversions to different currencies can be made at http://www.xe.com/ucc/ Currently, the Australian dollar is roughly 0.67 United States dollars. So what does everyone think? I'm holding off on voicing my opinion (and buying any cars) until I hear from some of you. Thanks in advance. |
