Bruce, I thought you were in CT, not NJ. Anyway on the maintenance, cannot be of much help since I have not been to any of the places you mentioned. Until last month I was in southern NJ for about 8 or 9 months as a management and computer consultant for Johnson and Johnson. While in NJ my corporation bought its first Ferrari but I decided to shop outside of the NJ Tri-State area. Unless new information becomes available, I already know what my second Ferrari will be and who I will buy it from (not a NJ Tri-State Dealer). Will still keep the first Ferrari. I decided to have no Ferrari service work done in the NJ Tri-State Area unless an emergency. So cannot be of help in these areas. However, have an idea about insurance to throw onto the table for consideration: Heard many horror stories about insurance in NJ. Many people I talked to went across the river to Bucks County, PA or Philly. Others registered their cars in Oregon (also no sales tax). One executive told me he did this: Got a small place on the coast in Oregon believe he said Florence. Said it had some of the most beautiful costal scenery. About an hour from Portland for airlines and culture. Property going up rapidly. Insurance dirt cheap and no hassle. Used that address to get an Oregon Drivers License. Had a cheap beater that had NJ plates. He said that he could get titles and plates from Oregon through the Internet and mail without taking the vehicles to Oregon. Would something like this work? What are the advantages and disadvantages that are not obvious? Could an insurance company deny paying a claim since the vehicle had Oregon plates? What are the groups thoughts? Sorry about the insurance John. Sounds typical to me (what a scam!). I read some past threads about insurance and contacted Leland West on the advice of another F-chat member. They told me they would not insure me because I drove a van. What a crock of #&$* Basically they do and say what they want I guess. Erie is going to charge me ~$1100 annually on a 348ts series....

John I've used Algar for both my 360's and have been very satisfied. Also, Algar uses a towing service that is across the street from them. These guys know how to tow a Ferrari correctly. |

WWOC is a dealer. I have bought two cars from them and both deals were without trouble. I spoke with their service manager and thought he was good. Since I live in California it is a little far for me to go for service, but I wouldnt hesitate if I lived closer. |

6 weeks ago I purchased a '99 360 F1 with 5,800 miles on it. Question #1 There is no dealer nearby but a number within 120 miles. There is Ferrari of Long Island, Miller in Connecticut and Algar in Philadelphia. Also Wide World of Cars near Tapanzee although I dont think they are a dealer. What kind of experience has the board had with these respective shops for service? I'm willing to take it to any of them. Who do you recommend? - Question #2 should I have a 15k service done now that the car is 4 yrs old even though it only has 6k? Im thinking particularly of the cam belts. - Question #3. Insurance, I Insured the car with First Trenton Indemnity where all my other cars are. Today, July 7th I received a letter dated 7/3 in the mail stating my damage coverage was cancelled effective 5/23 (it was started 5/15). Is that even legal? Can they notify me that my damage coverage was canceled effective over a month ago? what if I was in an accident yesterday?? Does anyone have any suggestions who else to use to insure a 360 (and then my 5 other cars) in NJ? Any help on any of these questions is greatly appreciated. |
